Princess Aurora hates her name, it makes her feel like she has to live up to her family's impossibly high standards, she knows she already has to do that since she is the heir to the throne of Auroria, but having her name attached adds that extra pressure. Sometimes she wishes that her sister, Audrey, was the heir rather than her, but she knows that Audrey lets her emotions take the better her, so Aurora sucks it up. The thing that brings her the most joy is going to school in Auradon Prep. Aurora rarely even has to hear her actual name in school, all her friends call her Rory, she only hears her actual name by teachers, Audrey, Audrey's friend Chad, Audrey's boyfriend Prince Ben and Ben's family. The only exception to this is family day when she asks her friends to call her Aurora and then her grandmother Queen Leah wont get angry with her for 'disrespecting her mother's name'.

There is many things Rory's friends know that she wouldn't dare tell anyone else, not even her family and especially not Audrey. One of these things is that she is a lesbian, which even a few of her friends spent a couple weeks acting strange towards her when she first came out. Coming out was possibly the hardest thing that Rory has ever done. When she befriends the new kids who came to Auradon from the Isle of the Lost she feels the need to come out to her new friends she trusted almost automatically, especially since she had a huge crush on a certain blue-haired girl. In return, they tell her a secret of their own: they are planning on breaking down the barrier. She sees this as an opportunity to lose her responsibilities so agrees to keep quiet.
