A Merc's Work is Never Done

Y/N POV:

After a night of some good and well deserved rest, I decided to stop by at a diner before heading out. Just then, the same Renamon from last time came up to my table and said, "I'm sorry about Rin." I replied, "Don't worry about it. I was planning to head out anyway once the job is done." She then said she and the others (save for Rin, for obvious reasons) would help me find some more work here, and get more connections.

I'll save you the boring details by saying, I got a lot of thanks, money, and recognition after I was done. I even took down a couple of well-known criminals of the area. I thanked them, said goodbye, and hop on the train for Everglade.

Rika POV:

"Hey, Rin." I asked. "What?" She answered, coldly as usual, even though we much closer than she is to anyone. "If you're still mad about the merc, then don't worry, he left town."

Rin POV:

"He did?" I asked. Rika confirmed it, and left. I don't know what's wrong with me, but for some reason...

I don't want him to leave. I left my room, and heard Rika talking with Ryan. "Well, I hope she got what she wanted." Ryan said. "On the bright side of things, people love him and his work." Rika said. Ryan said, "I guess, but still, Rin is a total bitch for those unneeded insults."

I walked away, not wanting to listen anymore. I'm starting to think that maybe, for once...

Ryan was right. He saved my life, and the lives of my Digimon I grew up with, but I snapped at him, and pushed him away...

A few weeks later...

Rin POV:

After inviting the merc to lunch, I waited until he arrived. I'll try not to be so harsh, this time.

Y/N POV:

I noticed the table that was booked for us was empty. Either Rin was screwing with me or she was late. I prayed on the latter, and sat down. "Hello," I heard a familiar voice said, as a familiar golden vixen came out from her invisible state.
