Goodbye

When I came back to the room with the last dress, Andrea praised it again. I picked up my clothes and went back to the bathroom. I took off the short white dress and changed back into my regular clothes. When I returned to the room, I immediately headed to the closet. From under the closet, I pulled out my suitcase, my black suitcase that my mom bought me when I was eleven. All those memories when I first used it, laughing and sitting with Noah. "Selena, when will you be back?" Andrea asked while sitting on my bed, scrolling through Instagram. After I took out the suitcase and placed it on the floor, I replied, "After two months," and started stuffing the dresses into it. Andrea casually threw her phone behind her; fortunately, it landed on the pillow. She sat next to me and began helping me pack. I smiled, "You wanted to do all of this." Andrea looked at me seriously, "No, darling, we wanted to do it together." Then she burst into laughter, and I joined her in laughter.

When I packed my iPad and Macbook into the suitcase, I could barely close it. I looked at Andrea, who was again texting someone. "You'll have to leave soon," I said as I got up. Andrea tucked her phone into her "Princeton" hoodie and came over to me. "I'll come to see you," she sighed sadly and hugged me. "It's just for two months," I said with tears on the verge. Andrea let the tears fall, and I joined her. The longest we were apart was three years ago when she went away for three weeks. "Selena," I heard my mom's voice. "I'm coming," I said. "I have to go now," I sighed heavily. "Yeah, sure," Andrea replied, wiping her tears. We stared at each other for a moment, and Andrea gently turned my face to the right. "Don't look at me, or I'll cry even more." I laughed. I reached for the suitcase and took it. Andrea left my room, and I followed her downstairs to the kitchen. I went downstairs, and the suitcase, which was as heavy as an elephant, I placed next to my mom's. I heard the song "This Is The Life" by Amy Macdonald. My feelings were like a roller coaster; I wouldn't see Andrea for two months, but I would see old friends. Then it hit me: what if they are not there anymore? Or what if they don't remember me?

Andrea had already left, and I was sitting on a chair, waiting for my mom. "I'm here," she said. I got up and went to the suitcases. I took my suitcase, and for the last time, I took a deep breath, missing the smell of lavender and lemons. I smiled to myself, saying, "Goodbye for two months," and closed the bedroom door. I turned around and followed Andrea down to the kitchen.

My mom was already sitting behind the wheel because she had placed the suitcase on the back seats. I struggled to get in and looked out the window. The sound of the starting engine broke the silence that prevailed in the car. The car started, and I just watched as we moved away from home.

I saw neighbors and town residents everywhere. I felt weird; I was looking forward to it, but I wanted to spend the summer here. I looked at my mom, "Where will we sleep and live there?" She just smiled and then turned on the radio, where "Love In The Dark" by Adele was playing. After a moment of silence, she answered, "We'll stay at Aunt Sheila's, in the villa by the sea." I immediately felt the desire to be there already, living in a villa and right next to the sea. "Do you think they'll be there?" I sighed. I rested my head against the car window and looked at the front windshield; I felt her gaze on me, but I didn't return it. "You think Noah?" Her words made me look at her, "No, I mean all of them, not just him." She just laughed, "Unfortunately, I don't know." I rested my head against the window again and just listened to the songs.
