Liam felt himself struggling to concentrate as he sat in his maths class, the sound of the teacher talking became background noise, as his mind kept wondering back to the events that happened in detention. Apart of him craved for it to happen again, to be able to sing and feel the adrenaline surge through him. He had never felt so free, like everything around him disappeared and suddenly all his worries were gone. He wanted to feel that thrill again, even for a moment. But he knew better then to wish on something that will never happen again. They didn't even know each other; he didn't even know the new kid's name. Liam felt a vibration in his pocket, quickly taking it out to see Mason text him to meet him in the library after class.
The bell rang for lunch, Liam quickly packed his things heading to the library. He found it strange that Mason wanted to meet him there and not at their usual lunch table. As we walked in, he saw Mason sitting at a table with Corey and Nolan. Now this was a whole new level of strange.
"Li, great you are here." Liam sat next to Nolan, who gave him a quick smile before turning back to Mason. Who looked like he was vibrating with excitement.
"what's going on Mason" Liam asked as he watched the other three shared a look with huge grins on their faces. They were up to something, and Liam wasn't sure if he liked that.
"Well Liam, you will find out when Theo gets here" Corey stated as he leaned back on his chair. Liam gave him a strange look, who the fuck is Theo. "Speak of the devil"
Liam turned to see who Corey who was talking about. He was faced with the same cold stare and green eyes. Liam finally was able to put a name to the face. He watched as Theo walked over to their table before slumping onto the chair next to him. Liam couldn't help but stare, his green eyes were so bright and vibrant in the light, yet they were dark, almost familiar to a forest surrounded by mist.
"Why am I here?" Theo asked, snapping Liam out of his thoughts. He turned to Mason, why were they there?
"Okay hear me out, I was talking to Corey last night. We found something out." Mason reached into his bag and pulled out a flyer. "There is a battle of the bands and I was thin-"
"Absolutely not, like I said yesterday. I am not joining some stupid boy band" Liam watched as Theo started to stand up from the table and begin to walk away.
"There is a 7k prize for the winners" Corey shouted, that sure caught Theo's attention as he walked back and sat down. "Look I think we could win this; Hayden told me about it. She is joining with her band."
Theo grabbed the flyer, before looking back at Corey. "Small issue, it says we need to write our own songs."
"Actually." Mason looked over at Liam with a wide grin. "That's what we have Liam for."
Liam had never told anyone in his life he wrote music, except for Mason. From a young age, he was told he was forbidden to pursue anything in music by his father. He kept everything music related a secret and made sure to never be caught. After his father left, he was allowed to play his guitar and write songs more freely. Apart of him still wanted to keep it hidden, even if his mother and stepdad supported him unconditionally.
"You can't be serious. Him?" Theo scoffed. Liam felt his anger rise at the comment, his fingernails stabbing into the palm of his hand as he tried to remain calm.
"What is your problem, you don't even know me?" Liam snapped at Theo, his heart pounded into his chest, he could hear the blood rushing to his head.
"Look, you have a good singing voice. I just find it hard to believe." Theo shrugged "Unless, you want to prove me wrong" Theo raised his eyebrow as he challenged him. Liam has no idea how he did it, but Theo knew how to push all his buttons without even trying.
