THE FIRST RACE AND A SHOCKING DISCOVERY

Janet's POV

As I sat by Finn, watching the supposed-to-be American Agent down in the pits, I gave a frown.

Yes, I never did meet my associate at the party, but I figured I would meet him here at the races since that's what he told Holley. But now, every time I look at the tanned man, it just doesn't feel right.

"Why is he in the pits? He's so exposed." Holley asked, pulling up her attached computer and watching him. "It's his cover. One of the best I've seen, too. Look at the detail on that dirt and oil. It must have cost him a fortune." Finn replied.

"But why hasn't he contacted us yet?" Holley pushed.

"There's probably heat on him. Be patient." Finn answered calmly. "Right, of course. He'll signal us when he can."

Holley reasoned with herself.

"And then we find out who's behind all this." Finn glanced over towards me as he says this, seeing my expression, he focuses on the man below.

I stayed silent and turned my attention instead to the stands, filled with countless people here to watch the races.

Suddenly my inner comm rings. It's from my superior. I back up and turn away from the window after giving a glance to Finn.

He returned with a knowing look.
"Agent Janet, reporting sir."  a male voice replies, sorrow heavy in his tone.

"Agent JC, I am sorry to tell you this. But your associate has been found dead."

My eyes widen and I can feel my breath get caught in my throat, As I was still processing what I was just told, he spoke again.

"I shall send you the information. I'm sorry and I give you my condolences. Continue on your mission."

I blinked rapidly and choked up the words. "Yes sir, thank you for telling me."

I ended the comm and tried to control my emotions. While I stood still, Finn had turned around and was giving me a worried look.

I opened my eyes and without turning, I started towards the exit. "I'm going down." I said before I left the room. Finn followed, "Where are you going?" I could hear the confusion in his voice.

" got to talk with someone."

I said plainly, hoping he would leave it at that, but he continued to push. "Are you sure you want to go down there?
We can't interfere with another agents work. You'll risk-" I rounded on him and interrupted him, he jerked back. "I was just told that my associate, the one we are supposed to be watching, was killed last night!"

I snapped, anger flaring through me. He was taken aback by my tone and statement. "H-how is that possible?"

He stuttered. "That's what I'm going to find out.."

I said coldly as I ran off. Finn returned to Holley feeling out of place.

I never wanted to yell at him, but he has to understand.

*small time skip*

I was nearly at the pit where the tanned man was when I got a message from Finn, telling me that some of the thugs were heading towards him and that Holley was getting him out. I hid in the shadows as a Acer and another Pacer where headed to the door.

They opened it to not find the tanned man with messy brown hair, but Finn, holding a fire extinguisher.

"Finn McMissile? But your dead!"

Acer said in shock. "Then this shouldn't hurt at all." Finn replies, suddenly emptying the extinguisher in their eyes, then sprinting away.

The blinded men try to follow and chase after him, forgetting about their original target.

Be safe, Finn.

I think before the tanned man rolls out.

My turn. I approach. "Hello, please come with me, sir, I shall take you to the rendezvous point." I said kindly. Then leading him the opposite way from where the thugs ran off. As we went, 1 questioned him about the party the night before while giving him directions that Holley was giving me.

"Your doing great, just stay focused."

I told him. "What? You want me to head towards that ruckus?" He turned towards an area where a commotion was happening.

"No, don't go down that road!"

Holley yelled to the man and myself. I tried to get around to stop him but it was too small an alley. When we got there, I was shocked to see Finn standing on two man, two others just getting blown away.

Finn leapt off and prepared to fight the two he was standing on. I saw two Pacers surround him from behind and I sprinted forward, facing them.

My back to Finn. "What are you doing?" I heard Finn whisper. "Helping your ass, now shut up and fight." I sent a couple simple magnetic bombs towards the two men.

They screamed and ran off, I soon hear two explosions and smile triumphantly. Finn activates his magnetic gloves and yanks one of the men by the shirt collar onto a supply elevator.

I bring out my side gun and shoot the power cord, causing the elevator to quickly go up and crush the man with a splat and a little bit of blood

Finn and I dodged the other man's charge as he crashed right below the elevator.

Again I shot the rudder, causing the elevator to drop back down crushing the other man.

"Wow! That was amazing! Can I get y'alls autographs?"

Breathing heavily, Finn and I turn back to the tanned man, who had a big grin, showing his buck teeth. A line of people appear, distracting him. I turn harshly and ran off.

I need to be alone.

Finn stares after me, sorrow and understanding in his eyes.
