Chapter 10: Damsel in Distress
Present Time
Third Person's POV
A woman in her black jacket and black cap entered the room. She slammed the door behind her, which caught the attention of a man in his 50s sitting comfortably on his black swivel chair.
He has natural brunette hair, his face asserts dominance, and he has a big build. For this reason, a lot of people get intimidated. But there are also some people who are not, and one of them is the girl in front of him. The best friend of Kiara Go, Venice Ryu.
She is pure Korean. Her small oval face and long black raven hair are her assets. She's totally furious right now, watching her Tito stare at her with no emotion. He did not even greet her or offer to sit.
"Mr. Kim, what the hell is happening at the campus?" She used to address him in that manner because, as far as she can remember, he did not gave Venice permission to call him her Tito.
Venice slammed the pamphlet, on the table she snatched from the main gate of her school. Not only on the entrance, but the pamphlet is plastered everywhere on campus. She could not believe what she was seeing, so she headed straight to the mansion of Mr. Kim.
"I thought we were going to keep this a secret?" She gritted her teeth, but contrary to her demeanor, Mr. Kim remained silent.
"What the fuck! Why won't you answer me, old man." Her eyes were shooting imaginary daggers at the man in front of her.
Mr. Kim took a deep breath and reached out for the fountain pen in the pen holder. With a piece of white, one-eight blank paper, he started scribbling something on it.
On the other hand, Venice was dumbfounded by the reaction of her Tito. He should offer her some help right now or sort out the situation as soon as possible, and she doesn't mind silencing whoever the hell messed with her. She started to lose patience and spoke, ready to cross the line.
"You cannot even handle your own son? You pathetically threw a party expecting he would come and what, hug you like he's proud you are his father? Well, fuck—"
Mr. Kim cut off Venice's words by slamming his hands on the wooden table. Same thing Venice did to him awhile ago. A loud thud can be heard outside the room, and a male assistant standing outside took a peek to check what was happening. The hand Mr. Kim used waved at him; his palms were flushed red. The assistant then bowed for respect, and a creek could be heard when he closed the door.
Venice can't look him in the eyes. Her shoulder blade was restless. It looks like a cat got her tongue.
"What do you think will happen to an egg if you purposely push it into the corner?" His deep, husky voice filled the entire room. Mr. Kim looked up at Venice to see her reaction, but she was still staring at her black sneakers. He focused again on writing, not minding how the woman would answer him.
She knows it was reckless of her, but she also cannot stand being disrespected. Venice understood that Mr. Kim had already helped them a million times, but the deal he was promising her was not yet executed. And now she felt betrayed because of some idiot spreading rumors about the dead Kiara.
"The egg will break into pieces, right, Venice?" He did not glance in her direction and stopped writing. Venice nodded silently and noticed Mr. Kim had put the fountain pen back in its place earlier and folded the paper in half.
He held the one-eight piece of paper by his left hand, and finally Venice maintained eye contact with him.
Mr. Kim stretched out his left hand toward Venice. "Open this when you get out of this shithole," he said with an emotionless face.
