{Nat's POV}
"Clearing out the building now," I spoke through comms to Clint who was waiting for me in the jet.
Clint replied, dramatically as always, "Hurry up, I've got a wife and kids to get back too."
"Yeah, Yeah." I rolled my eyes, entering the next and last room.
I was about to say 'all clear', turning to leave when I suddenly heard movement. I instinctively held my gun in front of me, slowly stalking the corner to the connected room that I had already checked.
I entered to see a girl who was in the middle of uncovering herself from rubble when she saw me.
She moved back, obviously scared. I placed my gun back in my holder, kneeling down at a distance. This girl was skinny, clearly not looking after properly, her small frame made her look like a child but her facial features made her look older.
"Nat. Natasha..." Clint shouted over comms, "Is everything cleared?"
"Give me a minute, I found a girl." I said quietly into the comm, leading Clint to questioning that fell on deaf ears.
I reached my hand out to the girl, trying to show her that I'm not dangerous, "I'm not going to hurt you."
The girl shook her head, "They all hurt."
"They?" I frowned slightly, the mission had no info of a captive.
She looked towards the door before curling up more.
"Hey, it's okay now. No one's going to hurt you." I moved closer, making her head snap towards me, well more towards my gun.
I took notice and slid my gun away, "no weapons, I promise," I told a half truth. The girl loosened up a bit. Letting some of her wall crumble down.
"Can you tell me your name?" I asked, shuffling closer, the girl shook her head so I spoke again. "I'm Natasha. It would be good to know what to call you."
"Nasha?" The girl fumbled over her letters as she tried to pronounce my name.
I gave her a small nod with a little chuckle. "Yea, Nasha." That one was new.
"Pwetty." The girl mumbled, making me smile.
"I bet you have a pretty name too." I again moved forward, arms reach away now.
The girl smiled, but quickly looked down. "Alyssa."
"Your name is Alyssa." I asked, just to be sure. The girl nodded, but she didn't say anything more.
"Alyssa, would you like to come with me? It's not safe here." I suggest to the girl softly who just stiffened. "No one will hurt you I promise."
Alyssa looked like she was about to say something before she shot her head to the door, tensing up and moving back again. I snapped my head to the door to find Clint standing with his bow ready to shoot.
"Clint!" I semi-shout at my friend as I got up. He probably just ruined all the progress I had just made.
"Natasha, you weren't responding!" He shouted back at me.
"I was a little preoccupied." I slap his arm before pointing to the girl in the corner.
He looked over, only now lowering his bow. "Why haven't you just picked her up and brought her to the jet!" He whispered shouts.
"To think you're a father and that's what you just told me to do is ridiculous." I roll my eyes before I go back to sitting down, Clint comes to follow but I glare at him and he gets the hint.
"Alyssa? Can you look back at me?" I try to draw the girl's attention away from Clint. She looks over for a second and can see she's terrified. "He's not going to hurt you."
Alyssa wouldn't take her eyes off him, I moved forward before I turned to Clint, "Go back to the jet."
Clint put his hands up in surrender before leaving. Alyssa again tracked his movements as he did.
"Alyssa?" I tried to get her attention again, placing my hand on her shoulder. She immediately flinched back but I only gave a soft smile. "Hey, can you come with me? I need to take you somewhere safe."
Alyssa gave me a blank look, I couldn't tell if she was deciding on trusting me or thinking about what used to be out there.
I moved to my knees, "can I pick you up?" I had my arms out, waiting for her to come to me. I still need her to trust me but if I took any longer, Fury would get concerned or irritated and send more agents.
It took her a minute before she climbed into my lap, only then did I realise how small she was. I started to stand when I saw the death grip the girl had on the collar of my suit.
"Hey Alyssa, we're going to go back to my friend, he'll take us home, is that okay?" I asked, hoping that this isn't too fast for the girl, she gave me a small nod before we started to leave.
I finally got back the jet, of course, Clint made a quick remark about how long I took but again I just sent him a glare.
Alyssa noticed Clint again, this time instead of pointing an arrow at her he gave a small smile, but of course Alyssa decided to bury her face into my neck.
We were half way home and Alyssa was dead asleep, I moved her off my lap to a different chair as I joined Clint up front.
"You know, parenthood looks good on you." Clint smiled as I sat down, rolling my eyes. "I'm serious, Natasha."
I looked my friend in the eyes, "She's not a kid, Clint. She's a little. She'll probably wake up big and want to leave and find her own way."
"But you're hoping she doesn't..." Clint sighed and I shrugged.
"It's her life now."
Finally we got back to the compound, Clint and I both shared a relieved sigh. We both knew we were ready for a hot shower and a well deserved dinner, and by dinner, takeaway.
Clint collected the gear as I walked back over to Alyssa, she had slept the whole way here, thank god.
"Alyssa." I softly spoke as I gently rubbed the girl's arm. "Can you wake up for me?"
It took a couple tries before Alyssa truly woke up and realised where she was. She immediately reached for me. I smiled before I picked her up. She clunged to me as we walked throughout the building. Especially when Stark appeared.
"Hey Nat, hey new kid." Stark continued walking before coming back and walking with me now. "New kid?"
"Alyssa. I found her in a pile of rubble on our mission." I gave a short quick answer.
"Your mission was supposed to have no captives." Tony whispered and I nodded in agreement.
"Tell that to Fury." I said as I opened the door to my room and Tony smiled.
"The only time he'll be surprised." Tony laughed before starting to walk away, shouting back. "I'll order the Chinese."
