Hours passed, leaving Azalea's body stiff as a board. She wanted to take the knife and rid herself of her bounds, then stab the eyes out of her guards. But she bided her time trusting that Acrux will deal with it.Scoffing she thought, When did you start trusting Acrux, he does not even trust you. Gehenna made me soft.
Sameal sauntered over, "I hope you are feeling well. Though I suppose these conditions are not foreign to you, seeing as you made many enemies in your line of work." Eyeing the undead guarding her, he nodded.
The two guards bent down, their fingers stumbling as they untied the ropes around her body leaving just her hands tied. Gingerly Azalea stood up, wary, discreetly picking up the knife and concealing it away from prying eyes.
"What are you going to do with me, or has a spell of kindness fall upon you," she said.
"You should be honoured, you my dear friend will have front-row seats, to watch as the city goes to ruin."
She froze, midstep. "Haven't you wreaked enough havoc? Why don't you call it even and move on? Life is short, don't waste it on petty grudges. Trust me I've been there."
Pivoting, Samael stepped closer until she could count every lash. His breath was hot against her skin. "This. Is. Not. A. Petty. Revenge. They took my pride and pissed me all over it. You would not let that slide if you were in my place."
"So it's just your ego. Got it," she replied, leaning back uncomfortable from the closeness.
"You changed Azalea, you would have supported me, would have stood by me. Do not defend them, after all, you had your fair share of killing nobles."
"I killed them because I was hired to, not because of my pride."
"You think I am deranged, a monster. But truthfully you are the monster. You are the reason your parents died, the reason why I have these burns on my body. And if that wasn't enough; you kill Creed, the man who raised you. If that isn't unhinged I do not know what is" he said sneering.
"It wasn't my fault, I was a child. You can twist it all you want and believe
what you want, but I did not kill them and I will die with that. However I did kill Creed and I don't regret that, power and wealth changed him, I did everyone a favour." she said, pushing down the hurt.
"What did Gehenna do to you that made you become so delusional," he asked.
Grinding her teeth she said, "And what do you know of Gehenna, you were never there."
"You forget I control the undead, meaning I have access to their thoughts and experiences. Gehenna looks like a nasty place," he said.
"You talk as if you will not end up there soon."
"Why soon. You are planning to kill your old friend Azalea. I do not think so" He said, shaking his head.
"If I am the monster you claim then I would not have a problem going through with killing you. After all, you blame me for where you are right now.'
"If I did not end up on the streets, I would never have learned to wield my parents, your parents would have never let me; they were saints. So I believe I ought to thank you. Consider you being by my side as a token of my appreciation." He said, raising his brows.
Leading the way, Sameal walked towards the entrance of the cemetery, The undead urging Azalea forward. Throwing a dirty glance over her shoulder, she walked faster eager to get away from them. She felt a familiar prickle, looking up and she stopped. A small smile on her face.
"You are a pain in my ass Azalea," Acrux said, sheathing his sword.
