Aarohi took Akshara's hand in hers, gently running the henna cone in beautiful designs. "Wah Aaru, mujhe nahi pata tha tuh itna aacha mehendi laga deti hain."
"Surgeon hoon. Haath kaapte nahi hain." Aarohi said proudly. "Acha bata, Abhinav-ji ka naam kaha likhoon?"
Akshara thought for a while. "Aisi jagah likna ki unhe pata hi nahi chale. Doondhne dete hai unhe."
"Aur agar nahi doondh paye toh?"
Akshara looked appalled at that suggestion, lips making an 'o'. "Toh band baja dungi Sharma-ji ka."
"Akshara aap hamesha meri bandh bajane ki planning kyun karti rehti hain?" Abhinav complained, hearing the last part.
Everyone laughed at that. Manish clapped Abhinav's shoulder. "Yeh hum patiyon ki kismat hain jamai-sa. Aadat dal lijiye."
"Mujhe toh che saal se aadat hain. Agar aadat lagni hain, toh voh hain Saale Sahab ki." Abhinav teased Kairav.
Kairav rolled his eyes while his family laughed at him.

Akshara fixed her saree pleats, checking if everything was done right. She fixed her hair, placing one last pin before stepping back, pleased with her appearance.
She was dressed in a bottle green saree with gold borders. Hair open (on Abhinav's request), her pallu cascading along the floor.
Just as she finished applying her kajal, Abhinav appeared behind her in the reflection. He was dressed in a sherwani of the same colour as Akshara's saree.
Akshara smiled. "Kaisi lag rahi hoon main?"
Abhinav didn't answer. He simply placed a hand on his heart and went, "Hai."
"Aap bhi na." Akshara blushed.
"Par bas, ek kami hain."
Akshara frowned slightly. "Kya kami?"
Abhinav opened the draw and took out a familiar box. A pair of beautiful jhumkas were carefully placed inside.
"Yeh voh, maine aapke liye...." Abhinav stuttered, not really knowing how to explain. "Yeh lijiye."
Akshara fondly remembered the earrings, the one that helped her take her first step. She picked up the letter tucked in with nostalgia.
"Nahi!" Abhinav panicked, making Akshara jerk. "Abhi nahi...baad mein akele mein padna."
