DARK ALLIANCES

In the morning, the soft morning light seeped through my bedroom curtains as my sister, Victoria, and I prepared to hit the shops for some chic dresses for tonight's exclusive dinner.
BETH: Do we really need to do this, Victoria? I already have a bunch of dresses that could work.
VICTORIA: Come on, Beth. This dinner is a crucial event for our families. We need to make an impression and show unity, remember? (whispers) If only she knew who's coming tonight...
My special vampire senses were throwing me off, and it was challenging to stay focused.

BETH: (distracted) I'm not sure any of these dresses are gonna cut it for tonight. Maybe we should try another store?
VICTORIA:Seriously, Beth? We've hit up five stores already! Just pick one, and let's get this show on the road.
DINNER TIME,
My eyes widened as I saw the enemy's family seated at the table. Shocked but keeping my emotions in check, I suppressed any signs of tension.
JOHN (Emma's son): Hey, Beth, you're looking stunning tonight.
(I ignored him)
The dinner ambiance was tense, everyone was exchanging pointed remarks. Then came dessert, and...
DAD: There's something important we wanna share.
EMMA: After years of animosity and hostility, we've decided to put it all behind us and join forces. That's right, our families are coming together.
JOHN: I have the honor of asking you to be my future wife.
I was taken aback and disappointed. How could my parents even consider this? (I stood up and said) In your wildest dreams! And I stormed off to see my bestie.
GRANDMA: Don't worry, she just needs a moment to process. She'll come around.
(Knock, knock)
OLIVIA: Hey, looking all dolled up! Why did you come dressed to the nines?
-Mind if I come in?
OLIVIA: Of course, come on in!
What's up? You seem a little worried.
-I was at dinner with my family, and guess what? They're asking me to ditch Alex and find someone else.
Why would they do that? I mean,he's a good guy.
-Even I don't know.
OLIVIA:And why are your parents...
-Can you stop with all the questions, seriously? I came here to change the atmosphere, not to talk about the same old stuff.
OLIVIA:Alright, alright.

The next morning, I woke up earlier than anyone else, feeling the hunger gnawing at me. I rushed home to satisfy my cravings.
OLIVIA'S BROTHER: (curious) Where are you heading so early? It's still dark outside.
- Oh, um, just going for a walk. Couldn't sleep, I guess.
When I got back home, my parents, grandma, and sister were waiting at the breakfast table. They tried to convince me to join them.
MOM: Good morning, dear. Come have some breakfast.
-Nah, I'm good.
DAD: I'm sorry we didn't tell you earlier.
-Do you seriously think I'm gonna marry that jerk? Never gonna happen, even if I have to deal with him.
VICTORIA: Finally, little sis.(smiling)
I grabbed a glass of blood and headed to my room.
VICTORIA: Oh, by the way, when we went to get some food earlier, we thought of you. There's some fresh, juicy meat in the fridge.
BETH:thanks.

Later that night, I went downstairs to eat, and that's when I overheard their conversation.

GRANDMA: We need to find a solution quickly. She has to be with him, so we can move on to phase two of the plan.
VICTORIA: She's never gonna agree to it, that's for sure.
DAD: I think we shouldn't pressure her otherwise, she'll suspect something, and I don't want my daughter to get tangled up in this scheme.
VICTORIA: I won't lie to you, but I believe we should tell her honestly. She's got a unique gift, which means she'll have incredible powers, giving us a significant advantage to take them all down and finally feel the satisfaction of being the only vampire family with so much power and fame.
BETH:I can't believe this. My own family lying to my face, manipulating me to do your dirty work, huh?
DAD: Beth...
GRANDMA:My dear, you have to understand that we don't have a choice. It's our only way out.
BETH: (frustrated) Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you and shatter your plans, but I refuse to be a part of this messed up scheme.
VICTORIA:Remember what I told you at the cafeteria? That you could become like before if you embrace your vampire destiny? I wasn't lying, Beth. You can regain control of your life by avenging us. This family has been our enemy for years, and we are stronger than them. It's time to show them.
BETH:(angry) Why do you try to lie like this? I'm not dumb, and I don't even know my powers yet.

I went out to clear my mind, and then I saw a guy sitting there, laughing and talking with his girlfriend. I was so jealous that they were happy and not me. My jealousy took over, and I bit him... I couldn't control myself, and in the end, I couldn't stop feeding on him. The cops arrived, and I couldn't stop eating.
