This is inspired by missl0ttie's dark au oneshots. I wanted to create a story where the turtles are anti-heroes rather than full-on heroes.
If you haven't read her books yet (idk how you missed them lol) please do! They are amazing!
The turtles aren't outright villains, but aren't afraid to kill if necessary. This story focuses mainly on Leonardo and the reader. I will try my best to keep the reader gender neutral. (If I mess up a line let me know!)
The Hamato family is dysfunctional to say the very least, but they do what they need to to make ends meet and survive.
However a supposedly dead clan is rising from the ashes, gaining followers left and right. A terrible substance is created, something that could destroy all Yokai kind. No mutants are safe.
Y/N is caught up in the middle of this mayhem.
Only they hold the key to creating an antidote to combat the substance, but why should they help the creatures who want nothing more than to destroy them and the rest of humankind?
