Currently, Kyle sat on his desk, glued to a book he'd gotten from the library and occasionally taking bites out of a grilled cheese. He wasn't particularly interested in the story but it was the only thing to do when he'd been forced into isolation.
See, nobody took it well when the only item that brought interest to their shitty old village was lost –All totally Cartman's fault by the way, not that they care. So as punishment, Kyle was cast into social isolation or in other words; the silent treatment.
Kyle hadn't really cared when the whole village silently agreed to ignore him. He never really talked to anyone anyway. But he did care when his father stopped talking to him. Being the stubborn person he is, Kyle refused to talk to his father too. It made family dinner nights a heck of a lot more awkward, conversations only ever being sparked by his mother or Ike. But if his father was going to act like a child, then so was he.
Kyle glanced at the calendar laid down on his desk. On it, each box leading up to today had been crossed off with a black pen. He looked at the date. 28th of august he read to himself. He brought his eyes back to the library book and turned to the expiry card on the back page.
Hm. He'd have to return it. He hasn't finished it yet, but so far it's hardly been worth the read.
Kyle pushed his chair out from his desk, stretching his arms up and arching his back till he heard a satisfying Crack coming from his back. He got up, left his room with his book in hand and paced down the stairs.
"Hey, Ma?" He called out.
"Yeah, Kyle?" His mother hollered back for afar.
Walking towards his mothers voice, he found her where he thought she'd be. In the kitchen, her reading glasses on, squinting her eyes to read the small words on her phone.
"Ah. Bubula, come here and read this for me." She outstretched her arm, handing Kyle her phone. He took it, reading the screen. A recipe. She sighed, "Your mothers eyes aren't what they used to be."
As he read out the contents his mum wrote them down on a small piece of paper. "There we are." She muttered as she finished off the list. "Anyway, did you need something Kyle?" She asked, taking off her reading glasses.
"Can I go to the library? I need to return an overdue book." It's not overdue. But he needs some sort of good reason because he is afterall-
"What? you're supposed to be grounded, Young man." She argued, hands on her hips.
"Mr Tweak will get mad at me if I don't return it."
She sighed in annoyance. "What are we going to do with you? Alright then. But come straight back home, Kyle. I'm serious. If your father finds out that you-"
"Yeah, I got it mum. Don't worry." Kyle said, dismissing his mothers about-to-be lecture. turning around and heading for the door, Kyle could sense his mothers disapproving glare. It's one he's seen a lot lately.
He twisted the front door handle and let himself outside. It was an unusually nice day, sun shining bright in Kyle's eyes, fluffy white clouds lingering in the sky, villagers doing their daily tasks and chatting with one another. He made his way down the stone path and headed towards the library.
While walking past one of the shops, Kyle caught his reflection in the window. Near the left on the top of his forehead, just barely there, was a fading smear of purple. A bruise from the week earlier. From the night that screwed him over. The night he encountered a werewolf.
