...

Linda stared at the stick in her hand.

The two lines were blood red.
Ohh no. She thought

She was in shock. She never thought this would happen.

Especially if this was her first time doing it.

Thando told her if you do it for the first time without protection this wouldn't happen

How was she going to tell her father?

Her fiancee?

They've never even had sex.

This was bad, real bad.

Linda took the stick and wrapped it in tissue before throwing it away.

She stared at herself in the mirror. Her eyes were glassy. She wanted to scream. How can she be so careless?

She should have used protection.

The more she thought about it. The more she felt stupid.

She was a disgrace.
Her father will probably kick her out not only from his house but from the kingdom too.

The tears fell.
She sank down on the floor and cried silently.

...

As Nandi kept unpacking her clothes, she couldn't help but think of ways to get her father to approve of Jason.

Sure he wasn't black. But he was rich and willing to pay the lobola. And he was sweet and kind and caring.

Why can't ubaba agree mahn?

When she was done she made her way to the kitchen.

As she passed the bathroom she had small sniffles coming out of it.

She pushed the bathroom door open and found Linda on the floor hugging her knees up to her chest and crying.

She rushed to her and sat by her side and hugged her close to her.

"Eyy shhh. Linda kwenzakalani are you okay? Did someone hurt you?" she asked panicking.

Linda only shook her head and continued to cry.

"No no no. Ubaba is going to be so angry. I didn't mean it Nandi i promise."  she cried shaking.

Nandi only held her closer to her.

...

The king was furious.

Such disrespect. He thought.

He gave his daughter everything.
He made sure she got the best things in life.

When she wanted to go to Johannesburg to study at the university there he let her go. When she requested more time to persue her studies before getting married he let her.

Maybe that was the problem. She was too spoilt.

King Ngwane kept pacing back and forth in his bedroom deep in thought when his wife came in.

Mangwane just stared at his husband like he was going crazy. He was usually calm.

" Hauu baba. What's going on with you today. You've been acting strange." asked the queen.

Her husband just stared at her.

" Aksiyi lezi zingane zakho" the king spat with disgust.

The queen stared at him looking confused.

" Usukhuluma ngani keh manje?"

"uNandi wants to get married" the king said.

A smile spread on mangwane lips.

" That's great news but i still don't get why you're so angry." The queen said.

" She wants to get married to a white man!" The king shouted.

" Haa ihlazo kodwa leli!" she said in disbelief.

"Talk to your daughter mangwane please" the king sais as he walked out of the bedroom.

"When she does good things she's the father's daughter but when she does bad things she's the mother's daughter.Mxm men." Mangwane said bitterly.

...

"Linda are you ready to tell me wants wrong now?" Nandi asked after Linda calmed down from her breakdown.

She nodded her head.
She knew she could trust Nandi. She always was and is her favourite sister.

"Nandi I think..no actually I know that I am... Nandi I am preg..gnant." Linda stuttered.

Nandi was shocked for a moment. But after a few seconds she hugged her sister tightly.

" Hau why are you crying that's great news?" Nandi exclaimed.

More tears fell out of Linda's eyes.

" No Nandi you don't understand" she paused for a moment taking a deep breath.

" Its not Mxolisi's child Nandi. I slept with someone else. Me and Mxolisi haven't had sex. He wanted to respect dad until he's paid off all of my lobola. I slept with someone from campus. I was drunk and I just did it" she said all in one breath.

" Haibo Linda why didn't you use protection" Nandi asked.

" Thando said th..." She was cut off by Nandi.

" I told you Thando is not a great friend."

" I know. I'm sorry okayy" Linda said crying more.

Nandi felt bad for her. She knew that her family was the least understanding.

And honestly speaking Linda was never inlove with Mxolisi.

She only got engaged to make her father happy.

"So who's the father?"
