Shortly after the incident at the foster home, maybe about 4 months after, you and your brother returned to slumming on the streets, it wasn't  as bad, but it wasn't good neither, but anything was better than slaving around that house you hated so much, your brother started working.

He got paid a good amount of money, well for a twelve year old, he worked at many restaurants who needed the help, he worked a total of four jobs, he had to work really late, otherwise people would question why a twelve year old is doing such work, and the owners didn't want to have that talk about their businesses.

While Deshawn worked you just sat in the chairs watching the T.v's that'd be in the restaurants, this was very often, he'd be sweeping the floors and you'd be watching T.v,"Why don't you just use your quirk Shawn" you asked.

He let out a deep sigh and stopped his sweeping, "Because that'd be a shortcut, it'd make the reward less meaningful if I just slacked off  on the work that I'm being paid to do," he said, "also we can't just use our gift for something like this, our power is only meant for emergencies and shit-" "Hey" you said in a scolding manner, he laughed a bit, "Sorry, I mean for stuff like that" he said as continued to sweep.

You understood what he meant but still didn't see what was the issue was, if he used his quirk the job would be easier done, but then it dawned on you, could you do the same things as Deshawn with your quirk.

"Shawn...do we have the same quirk" you asked in your little soft voice, "Yes" he quickly answered, but then that sparked another question in your head, how? and what exactly is your quirk.

"How?" you asked, from what you know about quirks, they are random, they could be similar to your parents quirks, and it's very unlikely for siblings and parents to have the exact same quirk unless both parents also had the same quirk.

"I'll tell when you're older N/n" he said while still doing his work, "You always say that" you said in a pout, "just focus on your school work Y/n" he said as he pointed at your work book.

You weren't in school, but you were reading at a sixth grade level and doing math and science at a seventh grade level at the age of five, so if you were in school you'd easily be the smartest one there.

Deshawn made sure that you wouldn't fall behind your studies, but he didn't expect you to be so smart, Deshawn was studying at a college level at the age of twelve, he figured that both of you should take studying seriously.

He knew it's what your parents would have wanted, they would always say you can't be a black man growing up to be dummy, they would tell him to always go to college, grow up to be a successful black man, just wanted the best for him.

He didn't take it seriously then, but after their death, he continued his studies, he made you study very often so that you wouldn't fall behind, and now you both are way ahead of your standard grade levels.

You sighed as you looked at the paper, Deshawn had bought way more books ever since he started working, he really did do his best, you started to finish up the work that was on the sheet paper, not having any issues,

"I'm gonna be finish soon Y/n so finish that up and then you're gonna help me close" Deshawn said as he finished up sweeping, you hoped out of your chair making sure you grabbed all of your things and walked towards the door.

Deshawn put away the broom and walked over to you, he handed you the keys so that you could lock up the restaurant, you walked out the restaurant, Deshawn walking behind you as he turned off the lights.

You put the key in it's hole and locked the doors to the restaurant, you handed back the keys to your brother with a smile on your face, he checked the door to see if you had actually locked it, he then slid the key underneath the door.
