Chapter 6: Who I am

The awkward silence was unbearable, the anxiety was all over Skyla's face and it was only a matter of time before she lost it, she was frozen still. Leon began to worry "Skyla? Skyla?!" he shook her consistently. He snapped his fingers and she gasped as she came back to reality, she looked at Leon before stepping back quickly panting and trying to catch her breath, "Skyla please you don't have to be scared of me, I would never hurt you. I don't know what it is in me but I have a strong need and want to protect you, it started when we first met."  he said taking slow steps towards her, her breath still heavy and she grabbed her head "I feel dizzy" she muttered "It's ok, I've got you," Leon said "You're safe with-" before he could finish his sentence Skyla fainted, Leon was quick to catch her, "Oh shit!" Leon said.

(Skyla's POV)

Everything went black. I was in complete and utter shock from what Leon told me, it's not possible, vampires aren't real. But still, everything he said sounded so real and like it wasn't coming out of his imagination or a movie or a book, I was speechless and I didn't know what to do like how could this be happening, it was impossible like physically impossible. Right now I have so many questions but I couldn't gather my breath or strength to ask them. I don't know what I'm going to do but I still need answers.

(Narrative)

A few hours passed and Skyla finally woke up, she woke with a sore headache and was in a place that was unknown to her "Where am I?" she almost whispered, "Good you're awake," said a voice from behind her, she jumped "Woah", "Easy, it's ok you're safe." he stepped out the shadows, it was Leon. Skyla fully jumped out of her seat "Stay away from me" she said "Hey, hey it's ok like I said I would never hurt you, please believe me" he reassured her, "It's not possible, it can't be possible" she said shaken "Look I know you're confused but I can promise you it's all real," he paused "Here drink this." he passed her a glass of a clear liquid, she took it before examining the glass and then looking at him, "It's just water" he said with an eye roll, "Just making sure you're not trying to kill me" she said taking a sip, "What part of I would never hurt you do you not understand?" he said directly looking her in the eyes, " I don't know that do I, with what you just told me I don't know what to believe anymore." she said starting to raise her voice. "Ok let's just calm and can we sit and talk?" he looked at her sincerely and she saw that he truly meant it. They both sat down, Skyla still paranoid moved further down the sofa, Leon let out a sigh, "Listen I know that this seems beyond crazy right now but I owed you an explanation and plus you wanted to hear the truth so I told you everything." he explained calmly. Skyla, now more focused and relaxed, "You haven't told me everything," she said, Leon gave her a look of confusion, "You told me to remember the year you were born but you didn't go back to it or explain that part..." she continued, again Leon sighed, "Oh yeah, that part I didn't come back to..." he took a long pause as if he was stalling to say it as he had done before, "So yes I was born in 1887 in Virginia, I grew up in a small but wealthy family, it was a small town I lived in and in my town, everyone knew everyone, in my house, it was myself, my father, mother, and my two younger siblings, as I did mention before my family has a lot of history and most of my ancestors were here, finding shelter and whatever else they could before telling us to move to here." He carefully explained, "Wow, so when did you become you know" Leon chuckled "This is where my story gets interesting, so my family have been vampires for centuries, all my ancestors were and even my parents were when myself and my siblings were growing up, I'm the oldest child so I turned first, I was 17 when I was turned, at that point my siblings were 15 so they still had two years to wait but me I was at the age of turning and ready, my parents had explained everything about it to me so I knew what I was getting into and then it happened, it felt really weird, but it happened and now it's who I am."  Leon pressed on, "You really weren't kidding when you said your family had a lot of history," Skyla said putting her empty glass on the floor "So you turned when you were 17?" she continued, Leon nodded, "But when was that?" she asked, Leon stood up in front of her "I turned 17 in 1904, and that's when I became a vampire so I've been 17 years old since 1904." he finished, Skyla stood up to face him, again she was in shock "But Leon it's now 2017... wait but that would mean-" she cut off from her words "That I'm 113 years old yes." he said confidently, Skyla's face dropped, immediately she started pacing around, her breath once again starting to get heavy, "Oh my god..." she muttered sitting back down with her head in her hands.
