"Skyla! Come on, you've got school." her mum violently shouted up the stairs, "SHIT!" Skyla screamed as she dashed to her wardrobe to get dressed. When she was ready and had all her stuff together, she ran downstairs to see her mum. "What were you doing up there?" her mum asked, "And my goodness Skyla-Leighanne watch your language!" Skyla gulped "S-sorry mum, and the m-my alarm didn't go off" Skyla stuttered. "Luckily I was here then huh?" her mum chuckled "Yes very lucky thank you," Skyla said kissing her mum on the cheek, before grabbing her bag and legging it to the door. "Oh, hun do you want me to give you a lift?" her mum called out. Skyla paused for a moment when she thought a lift would be helpful so that she wasn't late but she wanted to go over her questions for Leon on her way to make sure there wasn't anything she forgot "No it's okay thanks mum, see you later." she called back slamming the door behind her.
Walking to school gave Skyla a lot of time to read through her list of questions, it also made her shake as she thought very deeply with fear and slight relief that she was going to get the answers that she was looking for. 'I've just got to get through the day first.' Skyla thought as she walked, more heavy-footed than usual, her gaze miles further than it had ever been before, her right eye with a slight twitch of fear and nerve. 'You can do this'. Arriving at school felt eerier, the air felt cold, and the atmosphere more gloomy, as if Skyla wasn't the only one who knew that Leon was hiding something. She intended to avoid him until she had to see him after school, she thought it would be easy for how big the school was but she didn't realize that she'd be underestimating him and with how much fear she was currently feeling, that was the last thing she wanted to do. By running into him in school she would have to fight her urge to ask him everything then and there, but deep down she knew that even if she did bump into him she would have to save all her questions for her private conversation later. She saw through the open school doors, the corridors looked dark and dreary and desperately needed to lighten up, 'Where's Maddie?' Skyla thought, she quickly checked her phone to see if she had any messages from her, but nothing. 'Great, my best friend isn't here the day I need her'.
(Skyla's POV)
I was mad. I was nervous the day my best friend isn't here right when I need her support. For I was finally going to find out what Leon was hiding. But most of all... I was scared because I had no idea what he was going to say, it can't be anything supernatural because that stuff only exists in books and movies but then nothing can explain what I saw the other night with him, that girl, the scream, and the girl collapsing to the floor. It doesn't make any sense. No matter what it was though I was going to find out and when he saw me the other night and discovered that I had seen whatever he was doing it won't be hard to get it out of him.

All around the school felt eerie, more early than usual. All was quiet which was very unusual; the only sound that lingered was the silent howl of the wind but then "Skyla" the whisper echoed, and yet it was just a whisper but it felt like something that was screaming out but she was the only one to hear it. Skyla jumped in shock, she looked around franticly, it all fell quiet again when then rustling in the leaves what felt like inches behind her. She again jumped in shock to face the noise "Hello??" she called "Who's there?" Again silence fell. "Show yourself!" she shouted with sudden bravery, she felt eyes on her and at this point, she started to shake with fear. "Someone's getting brave" She turned around ready to fight whoever was trying to scare her. It was Leon, standing before her; he looked different from the other times Skyla had encountered him, he wasn't wearing his uniform, his dark hair neat at the back and all messy at the front, and he had a large grin on his face which nerved Skyla a lot more than she already was. "Leon.." she started, trying not to seem scared "Why aren't you in uniform? And why are you hiding behind the trees" he chuckled "You're cute when you're nervous you know" he grinned, 'is that all he has to say right now?' Skyla thought, she looked down trying to get her serious face on and trying not to blush from the compliment he just delivered. "Didn't answer my question?" she said in her serious tone, he tried to play along. "Well you know how I have some explaining to do-" he started "Some serious explaining to do" she broke in, and he chuckled again. "Yes well I thought we could go for a walk," he said as he turned his head to look at the woods, Skyla's face dropped with instant shock and panic. "Hey don't look so scared, where's the brave girl I just saw eh?" He turned around and started walking expecting her to follow, "Leon! We have school we can't just ditch..." She knows he heard her but didn't say anything back. "Ugh" she sighed deeply "Why do I feel like this is turning into Twilight," she said starting to follow him into the woods.
(Leon's POV)
I won't lie to you, I was nervous. The kind of thinking 'I could die' nervous which is ironic since I'm immortal and can't die, but there was something about this girl that intrigued me, and what I have already learned from her is that she doesn't scare easily, but by telling her my truth I feel like it will scare her away when I do not want it to. I've been around a long time and never in my 117 years of living have I ever felt anything like this, especially for a girl. Don't get me wrong as well as being an outcast I've had friends in the past, I haven't made any for a while though; I haven't been able to make friends or even talk to people in the last 5 places I've lived in due to what happened all those years ago. Skyla is different, I know I've just met her but there is just something about her and I have this urge to protect and keep her safe which means always being around her. The deeper I walk into the woods the more concerned she's probably getting just because I'm stalling to tell her what she deserves to know. I need to do this, and even though I don't technically believe that there is a god, I will pray to any gods that telling her what I am won't scare her away, because that is how much I want her.

Deeper and deeper into the woods they walked, 'where is he taking me' Skyla continuously thought. The butterflies in her stomach swirling around so loud she was surprised he couldn't hear them. Suddenly he stops but doesn't yet turn to face her. "Not saying I am scared but this is very concerning to take someone you've known for a few weeks into the woods like this." She remarked, he sighs and finally turned around, the silence was unbearable, and neither knew who would break it first. Skyla gathered up her courage one last time and again in her serious tone "Why are we out here?" he once again chuckled "You don't like wasting time do you" he said with a smirk. Skyla had a mix of emotions inside her, she was confused about why he brought her into the woods, but also she was annoyed and angry because, at the same time, he was the type of guy that had one of those faces that makes you feel weak in the knees from a smirk or smile. You could just punch them for it, 'his good looks aren't helping this situation' Skyla thought trying her hardest not to blush. His face was quick to change as her 'trying not to blush' reaction caught his attention, she noticed that he caught on and her face dropped within seconds. "Ok so, we're here. Spill it!" Skyla's seriousness really now made Leon scared, something he didn't know he could feel. "Ok ok, but please I only ask that you hear me out, meaning don't talk until I'm done because I want you to hear everything from me before you jump to conclusions. Ok? Promise me" Skyla nods, her serious side slightly fading as she now realises that this was a big ordeal. Leon takes a deep breath before figuring out where to start. "Ok, well I don't know where you want me to start but, I think I need to start from the beginning or maybe I should say, my beginning" he inhaled again, "Okay... the beginning is where I want you to start from and then lead up to what I saw the other night," Skyla demanded. "So my life started in 1887-" Skyla gasped "Ah remember what I said" Leon directed "Actually," he started, "I'm not going to start from the beginning because we'll be here all day, but do remember that I was born in 1887, ok?" Again Skyla nodded but this was much slower and filled with anxiety. "My family has a lot of history behind it and even my ancestors were in this town centuries ago, when I turned 17 years old in 1904, my father told me it was time I joined the family business, and like I mentioned my family has a lot and I do mean a lot of history in this town and when I also bring up my ancestors they ruled this town through the centuries they were here and there's a reason for that..." he paused suddenly, Skyla started to get impatient "What was the reason?", "Wait Skyla I just want you to know that when I tell you this I won't blame you if you never want to see or talk to me but one thing I want you to know is that you do not have to be afraid of me," he explained making sure he didn't miss a single detail. "Leon you're really freaking me out now but just tell me the reason, just say it" Skyla muttered trying to keep her anxiety hidden.
"We're- we're vampires..."
