Chapter Four: The Dark Truth

|Leon's POV|

I have been in many places in my life, but none of them have been as interesting as this place. There's something about it that just pulls me in and makes me want to stay this time, that is, if we don't get found out and the family don't have to move again. The thing about me is that I have a secret and it comes with many consequences for people who find out the dark truth about me and my family. That's why I can never commit to my feelings and I have been forbidden to let emotions get in my way, that's why I have to let what I have developed to feel for Skyla, go. It could never happen, she finds out who I am and she would never stop running, and maybe that would be for the best, she doesn't deserve a monster like me, she deserves someone who will treat her like the queen she is. Besides as much as I say I need to keep her at bay I really wish I didn't have to, I mean look at her she's an absolute goddess, so incredibly beautiful and her voice sounded like peaceful whispers of the ocean. I need to do this for her sake but for mine.... it's going to be harder than I thought.

It's been two weeks since the Leon situation and Skyla still felt uneven, she couldn't get the events of what happened out of her head and it haunted her. But at the same time she didn't want that moment to end.. she just panicked in realisation of where they were and how long it could have been before they got caught. Though if it were anywhere else, things would have escalated very quickly, Skyla's thoughts about this mysterious guy still whizzing around her head desperately trying to find out who he really is, but at the same time there was a grudge in Skyla being held against her in the sense that maybe not knowing who he really is was for the best. She had obviously done what anyone else would have done and tried to look him up, but that wasn't much hope. There was also the idea of trying to follow him around school but the thought of that made Skyla's skin crawl. She was in desperate need to stay away from him but to also find out what he is hiding. Days past and Skyla was still debating whether to go through with her plan to follow him around school, the school days seemed to be getting longer meaning the more time Skyla would have to find him but her mind was at war with itself and couldn't decide what was best for either Skyla's safety or her benefit.

Later that night, Skyla decided to clear her mind and went out for a run. After a few miles she stops to do some stretches, strange noises repeated from all around her, rustling in bushes, wind howling, Skyla quickly stopped her stretches and began a slow jog away from the noises, it all fell silent when suddenly the high pitched scream of a girl echoed around Skyla, she froze, in a moment of panic Skyla felt helpless as she did not know what to do. She tracked where the scream had exploded from and carefully took steps towards it. She pulled apart some bushes and stood not far ahead was a tall guy, with wavy black hair, and dark clothing, Skyla felt uneasy as she thought she knew who this guy was, he starts to turn around and Skyla's face drops as she see's who this tall and dark stranger was.

|Skyla's POV|

Out on my evening run, i heard a noise that shook me to my core but also gave me the feeling like I should see what it is, I hid behind the bushes and not far ahead I noticed a tall stranger wearing dark clothes and with wavy black hair standing a few feet away, I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up for I felt I knew who this person was, I felt chills running down my spine and my brain was telling me to start running and to not look back but I had to know, was he connected to that scream I heard? I was destined to find out. He turns at an angle and reveals he's holding a girl by her shoulders, the girl had her head tilted to the one side and wasn't moving, I felt my breath catch in my throat and felt the sudden need to start using an inhaler. The guy let's the girl go and her limp body falls flat to the floor, landing with a thud. I started to panic as I couldn't help but think 'did he kill her?' My fear causes me to loose balance and fall causing the bushes to rustle, the stranger then makes a full turn to face where I was hiding and I nearly screamed at the sight of who he was, it was Leon! The red dripping liquid that was around his mouth was all the information I needed, his dark eyes which were exactly like the ones I saw when I had my encounter with him at school. Two of his teeth were sharper then all the others, the point at the end of them looked enough that it could pierce through any type of skin. I was so lost in my own panic I didn't realise I had lost my balance again causing the bushes to shake louder, I looked up and Leon was looking around at what the sound was. 'I need to run, now!'
