Soobin paused. The rushing waterfall in front of him was thunderous. It was so loud that he could barely hear himself think. And how big it was too! It stretched up so high that the top of it was obscured by clouds. He tilted his head back, trying to see. If he squinted really hard, he could make out the lush green vegetation all around.

Despite the roar of the water, he found himself unable to break the silence. He was by himself in this place. The forest was his and his only – the only place where he could just be. Nobody would expect him to do anything. He could just stay quiet and not have to worry about entertaining anybody. Being an introvert in a world that demanded extroversion was challenging.

The lure of the waterfall dragged him closer. Carefully, he stepped into the frigid water. His feet stung and his knees knocked into each other, but he forced himself to relax. He quickly got used to the temperature. Though it wasn't a hot day, he felt his body starting to cool down. He knelt down and scooped some of the water into his hands. Soobin splashed it over himself, letting the water cascade into his hair and down his shirt. He shivered. It felt good.

All his clothes were soaking wet. They clung to him like a second skin.

Soobin slowly got to his feet. The water called to him again, begging him to sit back down and let the waves crash into his tired body. But he resisted. He walked a little further. The water sloshed around just below his knees now. His socks and shoes were soaked. Maybe he really should have taken them off, but for whatever reason, he couldn't feel an ounce of regret.

It wasn't possible to have any negative feelings here. The nature around him seemed to suck in any of those thoughts, taking it all in and leaving Soobin to feel nothing but serenity.

He walked a little further still. The water was at his knees now. Suddenly, Taehyun sprang into his mind. For him, the water would be at his hips. Soobin smiled. He stopped to think again.

Who knows where Taehyun was now? Soobin didn't know. An aching feeling of nostalgia went through him, the knowledge that he might never see the others again burned his chest and mind and left him teary-eyed. He had followed a deep instinct here to this unknown place, but he had left all the others behind.

It was okay.

Soobin inhaled deeply, banishing all thoughts of Taehyun from his mind.

The green vegetation pulled him in closer. Each leaf of every single tree was so detailed and vibrant that Soobin longed to know more about it. Each tree was a kaleidoscope.

He inched closer into the water. He wanted to stand underneath the waterfall and feel the weight of all the crashing water on his shoulders. He wanted to breathe in the mist of the water.

Soobin went closer and closer to the waterfall. Something deep inside him longed for the water. The water got deeper and deeper. From his knees to his hips, to his chest, and then to his neck.

He kept going.
