As much as I'd wanted to, I hadn't told Alexander I knew about his family yet. What Maia had said was stuck in my head and kept running through my thoughts day in and day out. If they really were that ancient why did he not tell me? Would they expect him to treat me like a blood mate of their understanding and lock me up?
I did not have time to brood over it too much though, as my band and I were getting ready for another gig at the little pub in the back streets of the city that actually enjoyed our music. The band consisted of our bassist Oliver, guitarist Cam, drummer Felix and myself as lead singer.
We usually just did covers when we were playing in the pub, occasionally we'd belt out an original song but mostly the owners wanted to keep it simple.
Tonight they hadn't given us a theme for once, so we started off with some Incubus.
"In the company of wolves I sat in silence
observant and afraid
It was there with their eyes like glowing embers
the man you see was made."
Looking through the crowd, my eyes fell upon Alexander who was leaning against the bar, a pint in his hand as he winked at me. I continued singing with a roll of my eyes .
"I was low but now I am high.
It helps to know serenity from ennui.
Something's wrong, something's wrong, when it all remains the same.
So face the fire, come into your name."
My eyes closed for a bit but when I opened them again, I saw one of my old family friends walk into the pub, I grinned at him as he waved and pointed to the tall guy next to him with a suggestive smirk. I nodded appreciatively.

When we were through our set, it had just hit midnight and the place was packed and rumbling.
"Go get your man, bro." Oliver grinned with a nod at something behind me. I laughed and looked up from helping Felix with the drum set to see Alexander stalking towards me.
"You good, Fel?"
"Yea, yea. Go have fun, I'm almost done here anyway and I have someone waiting too." He grinned and nodded to his right where a girl was waiting.
"Oh is that Charlie?" I grinned and Felix smirked.
"Yea and today she's a girl. Just yesterday she was a boy and man, let me tell you, in bed-"
"We do not need to know what Charlie's like in bed, thank you very much!" Cam explained as he rounded the corner. "Run along, Noah. We'll see you tomorrow for rehearsals, aye?"
"5pm here?" Cam nodded and shoved me towards Alexander roughly. "Now bugger off, ye pest." I laughed and waved, then turned to wrap my arms around Alexander's waist.
"Hi there." He chuckled and I pressed a kiss to his lips.
"Hey stranger." I was going to say something else, when my friend's grinning face caught my attention behind Alexander.
