THEY HAD JUST GOTTEN BACK FROM GROCERY SHOPPING WITH DAWN. She was so nice and sweet, Devon enjoyed her company a lot.

Dawn even offered to buy her a new book and gave recommendations based on her past reads.

Devon was the last to enter the apartment as her friend and new favorite adult were in a deep discussion about Game of Thrones. "I'm going to the room to start on my book, thanks again, Dawn." The woman smiled at the girl, placing groceries away, "You can go too, Rachel, and get started on the show." The girl nodded and walked with her friend to their shared room.

Devon threw herself on the bed, stomach down, and opened the first page starting on her new read. Rachel on the other hand turned the TV on and settled on her show.

After a couple of minutes of silence, Rachel exclaimed loudly, "Dragons?! This show got so much better." Devon turned to her, "Wait, my book also has dragons. I guess we know what Dawn enjoys."

Rachel looked back at her, shrugged then back to her show. Her friend mimicked her movements with her book instead.

The entrance door banged open, and both girls paused what they were doing and immediately walked out to check. Hank, Dawn's boyfriend, and Dick were at each other's throats, knocking cabinets and furniture.

Rachel walked forward telling them to stop but was left unheard. "Stop!" This time her skin took that greyish hue and her eyes turned dark, the windows and lamps in the kitchen exploding, everyone immediately covering their eyes and ears. The fight was forgotten. "I'm sorry."

Rachel walked away and locked herself in the room, leaving a worried Devon behind. "I think I'm gonna check on her."

When she entered the room Rachel had her legs curled against her chest, her arms around herself on the bed. Devon walked quietly and sat beside her, letting her presence comfort her friend the best she could. "It's okay Rachel, they aren't mad."

"It's getting worse." She looked at Devon, who shifted close to her and embraced her tightly. A knock was heard and Dick entered, sitting on the edge of the bed, his gaze on Rachel. "I'm sorry."

Dick shook his head, "I'm the one who should apologize..." Another knock, this time Dawn came in.

"How you doing, sweetheart?" She stayed in the doorway, her hand on the knob. "Hank is sorry, he can be an asshole sometimes."

A small smile broke out on Devon's face, when she looked at Rachel's a small one was also threatening to come out. "We need to go, Hank and I got that thing."
