Sevyn Walsh
Charlotte, North Carolina
6:00 am, Monday, 1/12/20xxToday is the start of my last semester of High School. I can't believe it. High school is almost over and soon I'll have to start college. It feels unreal. Though today is the first day back from Christmas break, of course my teacher emailed me, talking about a test first thing in the morning.
Why on God's green earth would anyone make students test on the first day back??
I rolled over in my bed, refusing to get up. My peaceful rest was interrupted by my mom walking in my room and shaking me while shouting, "WAKE UP! I've called you down several times! You're gonna be late for school girl!" I groaned and rolled out the bed. I zombie walked my way to the bathroom to relieve myself, wash my face, brush my teeth and finally tidy my wild, curly hair.
After I was done I walked out and downstairs to meet my mom at the front putting her shoes on. She looked up at me and put her hand on her hip and raising an eyebrow.
"About time. Any later and I would've just left without you Sevyn. Be grateful I'm tired and also don't wanna go to work..." she laughed a bit. "Now c'mon, we're already behind schedule."
She beckoned me with one hand as she grabbed her keys and walked out the door. I followed, grabbing my book bag on the way out.

7:35 amMy mom dropped me off at the front of my school's campus, I said my goodbyes and she departed. While walking the rest of the way I ran into one of my best friends, Paris Parkker. We've been friends since the sixth grade and are practically inseparable.
"HEY GIRLIE! I'm so glad to see you again!" She said as she ran up to me and embraced me tightly.
"Heyy! It's felt like an eternity since I've seen you last Paris. How was your break?" I smiled and listened as she told me all about her break and how her little brother almost burned her house down. We joked and laughed and over all had a wonderful morning.
*DING* *DONG*
The morning bell rung which signaled us to head off to our classes for the morning. Unfortunately me and Paris only had HomeRoom Advisory together unlike last semester.
"I'll see you at lunch Sevyn! Good luck with that stupid math test gorl!" Paris playfully punched my shoulder before waving goodbye and heading the opposite way of me.
My smiled quickly dropped once I reached Miss D's classroom. Just like last semester she was just as irritated as always. I think she just hated life at this point. She scrunched up her face towards me and held out a paper. "Take your seat..." she said in an annoyed tone. I took the paper from her and sat down. The paper had the curriculum laid out on what we were supposed to focus on this semester. After a couple minutes the late bell rung and morning announcements began. I started to zone out.
