Chapter III
After Adora gave Catra a tight hug, Catra lifted up the book and kept reading.
"But before I am going to tell you how Theia acquired her powers, I want to introduce you to three more people, that take an important part in our story. Together with Theia they were called the Grayskull squad. It consisted of us four best friends. Theia, Piko, Alia and me, Razille. We were friends since we were kids and one day, when we were out in the woods, we decided to give our friend group a name : Grayskull, named after a great warrior the village once had, because we wanted to become strong and fight for peace in the future. We always played warriors together in the woods, fighting playfully with swords we carved out of wood and pretending to save animals and villagers from an attack of the Spacemen, which we obviously made up. Later on, we all developed different interests, but our friendship never weakened.
Piko became a very talented artist, painting villagers, the nature and once in a while helped painting the buildings, when they needed a new coating. Alia developed a huge interest in planting. Therefore, she grew vegetables, fruits and pretty flowers. She loved going out into the woods, trying to find flowers and plants we have never seen before and planted them in the village garden. I came by a couple times a week to grab fruits to use for my tiny bakery.
And then we had Theia. Theia was always on the run. No matter who needed help, Theia was there. Someone needed help with the construction of a house, Theia was ready to help. Someone looked for someone to bring freshly baked cookies to the village nearby, Theia was on her way. She was the woman for everything, even before she became Shera. All of us, in our own way, became important people for the village, helping each and every person as much as we could, just like we always wanted when we were kids.
And one day, something changed.
Theia was asked by the Magicats to go into the woods to find a special flower, to develop a certain medicine, to help a kid."Catra shivered again, after reading the words "Magicats" for the second time. She cleared her throat and kept reading.
"Theia was wandering through the woods for three hours straight, until she decided to take a break and sit down under a tree, enjoying the sun's warmth on her face. She closed her eyes for a few minutes, her legs were tired from all the walking. She touched the gras around her and it felt like nature's energy went trough her. Theia always had a special connection to nature. When she was a young child, she was found in the woods, playing with flowers and tiny, glowing butterflies. Her parents nowhere to be found. The elders called her a gift from nature, because she grew up to be a very kind and helpful person.
Surprisingly, that day, while resting, Theia felt something touching her nose. She opened her eyes and faced one of the glowing butterflies she played with when she was a kid, sitting on her nose. She smiled and moved her finger towards it, making it sit on her finger instead. All of a sudden, the butterfly left her finger, flying away towards the woods and Theia felt a strong urge to follow it deeper into the woods.
After what felt like an eternity, Theia arrived at a cave she has never seen before. But since her tiny friend did not hesitate on flying right into it, she kept following it. It was dark and she felt a certain cold coming from the walls. Water was dripping down on her hair. But the glowing of the butterfly enlightened the cave enough for her to see where she had to walk. About five minutes later, Theia encountered a blue light further into the cave. Curious, she now ran towards the light, realizing it was a huge glowing stalagmite, with a shape that reminded her of a huge crystal. The closer she got to the crystal, the more she herself started glowing too. She thought it was weird, but at the same time, it felt good. She began feeling stronger and finally, almost in front of the crystal, she reached her hand out, touching it. The light became so strong, that Theia was forced to close her eyes, to protect them from the light. The next thing Theia remembered was, that she must have lost consciousness, as she woke up outside the cave, not knowing how she ended up there."Catra stopped reading, letting the best friend squad think about what they just heard.
"Hmm. So Theia was chosen by nature. And it seems, that her destiny must have been decided for her, when she was born. But why? I mean, there was no threat, so why did nature decide to give her powers to protect them.", Adora thought out loud.
"Maybe the planet somehow censored a threat. I mean, Etheria was and still is full of magic. So maybe it was able to see the future ?", Bow answered, scratching his head.
"It does not seem irrational. Adora also received her powers when we were close to the big war with Horde Prime. It was just like she had enough time to master her new powers before she had to use them to save the planet.", Glimmer tried to explain.
Adora nodded.
"But as far as we know, the first ones somewhen appeared on Etheria. Well, we thought they were the first ones living on this planet and now we know they were not. So something must have happened to the villagers. Maybe the first ones were the bad guys after all.", Catra contributed.
