Best friends or lovers?

Chapter 3

Later after Barbie and Gloria's conversation, Gloria starts to make dinner for her, Barbie, and Sasha.

Barbie sits in her bed reading online about love and how to know if you're in love. She is curious to know more about it since she's never been in love. Gloria calls out from the kitchen that dinner is ready but Barbie is too focused on reading to notice. Minutes go by and suddenly Barbie looks up and sees Sasha standing in her doorway.

"Hey, dinner is ready if you're hungry. I'm not sure if you heard my mom yell from the kitchen, somehow." Sasha says in a slightly sarcastic tone.

"Oh! Sorry, I must've zoned out." Barbie responds as she stands up and follows Sasha to the kitchen. In the kitchen, Gloria is sitting at the table with a pot of spaghetti in the center.

"Glad you could join us!" Gloria laughs. Barbie chuckles awkwardly and then sits down.

"Sorry, I think I was zoned out when you said that dinner was ready," Barbie says with an awkward smile.

"Oh, no worries at all!" Gloria exclaims. She grabs a spoonful of pasta and puts it on Barbie's plate. "More?" She asks. Barbie shakes her head in response. She wasn't fully used to real food but she's learning how things like that work in the real world.

After dinner, Sasha goes to her room to call her friends while Gloria starts to clean up and put away the food when Barbie looks at her cleaning by herself.

"Can I help you clean up?" Barbie asks.

"Of course! That would be great, thank you." Gloria says in response. Barbie then starts to put things in containers and close them while Gloria washes the dishes. Gloria drops a soapy fork and Barbie rushes over to help her.

"Here you go!" Barbie says handing the fork to Gloria. Then drying her hand on the towel next to Gloria.

"Thank you," Gloria says as she turns her head to the left to look at Barbie and smiles softly at her. Barbie looks at Gloria and suddenly she feels knots in her stomach. She doesn't understand why because Gloria is her friend, she ignores the feeling and smiles back.

They finish up cleaning and just chill the rest of the night. Around 10 pm barbie yawns and says she's going to bed. Gloria and Barbie say goodnight to each other. But Barbie doesn't fall asleep as fast as she thought she would. She can't help but think about the way her stomach felt when she was looking at Gloria. But she ignores it again and tries to fall asleep. The pasta might not be sitting right in her stomach, right?
