A few nights into the week, Jack's nightclub had already become a big hit. Many people would come at 11:00 pm to dance, drink, and listen to the music. Jack had live entertainment on Saturday nights, he would have a bar band or a jazz band come in and play music. This time, he had someone special who he wanted to perform. Besides being a fashion designer and a royal dressmaker, Evie had a dream of singing in clubs, concerts and restaurants. One night at dinner, Jack made a proposition for her,
"How would you like to sing at the Crow's Nest, this Saturday night?" He asked, after taking a sip of his wine. "Oh gosh, really?" She asked, and he nodded. "Of course! I would love to sing at your club Saturday night!" She exclaimed, and they touched their glasses together.
Jack stood outside of the club for a few moments, he smoked a cigarette casually before he tossed it aside. And as if by magic, the paparazzi took pictures of him and asked him questions nonstop, he politely answered their questions but was more concerned about how well the club was doing tonight. He was also worried about Evie, because Mal told him that even at the age of 19, she could still get stage fright.
He went inside the club after about five minutes. It was a Saturday night, and the club's activities proceeded as usual, with people drinking, conversing, and dancing. The DJ finished after an hour, to make room for the jazz ensemble that Jack had booked to sing at his club. Doug, who was very into Jazz was the manager for the Auradon Blues Boys. As soon as they finished setting up, they played some ambience for the time being.
Evie was putting her makeup on, including her eyeshadow, foundation, blush, mascara and red lipstick. She made a pouting kiss after she finished her makeup, and then stood up slowly, taking a deep breath before she left the dressing room. Then she ran into Doug on the way to the stage, "Hey, are you okay?" He asked, and she nodded, "Yeah, I'm just a little nervous. I wish I was with Jack. Have you seen him?" She asked, "I actually saw him come in a few minutes ago." He said, "But, you're about to be on." She let out another shaky breath, "Oh gosh. I don't know if I can do this." She whispered. "Hey, I believe in you. And so does Jack. You'll be great out there, I know it." He said with a reassuring smile, and Evie gave him a small smile, and touched his shoulder with her gloved hand, "Thanks, Doug." She said kindly, before standing behind the curtain. A spotlight shown onto the surface of the curtains, and Doug held up a microphone to make the announcement, "Ladies and gentlemen, first, I want to say thank you to Jack for letting us come up here and perform for you all." The audience applauded him, and Jack smiled while raising a hand and saying, "Thank you." Doug continued, "And please give a big welcome, to a lovely lady who will be singing for us tonight, Evie!" Jack smiled and clapped his hands for his fiancé. All of the men clapped, and cheered, one of them made a wolf howl. Jack shook his head disapprovingly, when he heard that man make that sound. Some of them gathered close to the stage, sitting in their chairs, eager to see Evie. Jack took a sip of his Coke and Rum as he waited for the show to begin. It did, with Evie slowly showing her leg and her red dress, as she started to sing, "Why don't you do right?"
The jazz band played accordingly, with their bassist, pianist, drummer, trumpeter and saxist. As she sang, the crowd paid close attention to her, Jack was amazed at how great she sang. She paid no mind to the men of the club, and as soon as she turned, she saw Jack straight ahead. She continued to sing, taking slow steps, and when another man raised himself up to Evie's level, she politely put a hand on his shoulder, slowly sitting him back down. Then, she slowly made her way down the stairs, going towards Jack at his table, she sang to the crowd and then to him, she sat down on his lap, loosening his jacket a bit, then she took off his hat for him, and ran her hands over his shoulders. Towards the end of the song, she put her arms around his shoulders, kissed him on the cheek, and sang the longest, final note of the song. When it was over, she walked back onto the stage, struck a pose, and the audience clapped and cheered as the curtain closed. Later on, Jack picked up a rose, and went to her dressing room, he knocked on the door, and she opened it slowly for him. "Hello my love." She said lovingly, then he gave her the rose, "You are too sweet." She noted while holding the rose close to herself. Jack put his hat up a bit, as she sat down in front of the mirror, and fixed herself up a bit. "You were absolutely amazing Evie." Jack said earnestly. "Gosh, thank you hun." She said, "What's say you and I go home?" He asked her, and Evie was finishing up reapplying her makeup, giving him a loving smile as she gazed at him through the mirror, "I would love that." She replied happily, before she got up slowly, and walked up to her fiancé. Jack slowly gave her his hand, which she took and followed him out of the dressing room.
They stopped briefly for pictures, before he had a limousine take them back to their apartment, where they would get dressed comfortably, and prepare for bed. They would have a relaxing day tomorrow.
