For the next two days alyssa was re-thinking everything that nick had said that night. The thing she didn't know was that he was thinking about it too.

Karl and noah assumed that something happened. First they thought about it when they found them alone, not fighting, and than because they just stopped fighting. They didn't fight over the small, stupid things anymore. When nick asked for a cup of coffee, alyssa poured him some. When alyssa needed help with bringing her grocerys, he helped without complaining.

It was 11pm when the group, foolish, sapnap and telly, were decorating the house for karls 24th birthday. It was nothing mayor, just some balloons in the kitchen and in his room. They were filling the balloons with hellium when alyssa started feeling dizzy. She sat down on the couch and took a few deep breaths. At that time foolish went to buy the 'happy birthday' balloon and karl was asleep in his room so her and sapnap were the only ones in the living room.

»are you alright?« he sat down with her rubbed her back. »can you get me some water?« he nodded her heart started beating faster, not because of him though. This had happened before and she told her brother about it but she refused going to the hospital, saying it was probably just anxiety.

»here« he gave her a bottle of water and sat back down next to her. She thanked him and drank almost half of it. while she was drinking he put his hand up to her fourhead, it was warmer than it should've been. »you have a fever. You have to rest« she tried fighting his case but lost before she even spoke up. He fixed the pillows on the sofa and she layed down. He went to get a blanket from the box next to the tv »nick it's the middle of july« »are you cold, yes or no« he walked over with the blanket »well...« he only chuckled and put the blanket over her. He than sat down by her legs and looked at his hands.

»i have a question« she looked up at him. He looked at her and nodded for her to continue. »when you took care of me, or really cared it was always when we were alone and you were drunk or i was sick.« he looked away almost ashamed. »my question is, do you really care?« he looked at her, now almost offended.

»of course i care alyssa« he rested his hand on her leg »it was just easier to care than i guess. When im drunk you're the only thing on my mind and i couldn't care less about anyone seeing us. Same thing with when you're sick.« he paused and looked at her. She was looking at him with a smile. »im sorry that i was such a coward about being nice to you because of noah. This ends now, okay?« he brushed a missplaced strand of hair behind her ear and left his hand to rest there. She took his hand in hers »thank you« he nodded and she fell asleep shortly.

When foolish got back he saw his sister sleeping on the couch and sapnap sitting next to her, asleep aswell. he only chuckled and remembered the first time alyssa told him how loud, annoying and outstandish his friend is.

He woke up his friend and the two finished filling the balloons alone. Nick told the other man what happened. Noah was visebly worried about his sister and he promised sapnap that he'd take her to the hospital as soon as they get home. that's when reality hit. Nick realized that after three nights the siblings will be on their flight back to ohio. Just as he started to get along with alyssa.

The two friends took some balloons and put them in karls room, while he was asleep and than put some around the house, mostly in the living room and the kitchen. »alright im gonna head to bed« foolish said a little before midnight, when the two were on their phones in the living room. »alright should we wake up alyssa? Or like take her to bed or something?« sapnap asked. Foolish smirked at him and nodded »sure but you wake her up. I don't wanna be beaten up. He walked upstairs and left the shorter man alone.
