"Where can we retreat to?" A neutral gendered voice asked.
"The Ships. We need to depart right away. The military is already sending reinforcements, and they will not be happy with us!" I half yelled as we ran back to the boats. The last of the boats were still prepping, but my boat was complete, and the Necromancer seemed to realize that.
"This was your plan all along!" The necromancer demanded.
"I told the Guild we were retreating, not sticking around. I don't know what they told you, though," I snapped back as we were reaching the final leg of the journey.
"Shit, We were betrayed," The Necromancer said, "Fine, We leave now. Can I take your boat?" The Necromancer asked.
"Yes," I replied, knowing bringing another B ranker was a smart decision.
I felt the Necromancer send out mana messages a moment later, and as we ran, the dead started to run toward the boats, with weaker Necormancers heading to the ships. "They are headed for the other ships. We will need a distraction as we run and someone else to be captured," The necromancer said, and I felt their ruthlessness.
We made it to the boat in two more minutes, and I quickly yelled out, "We move NOW!" I demanded.
"GET MOVING, MAGGOTS! WE RUN NOW!" He yelled, and the sailors moved into action a moment later.
It wasn't even two minutes before the ship started to leave the dock as I watched other ships moving under lantren to start moving. None were as fast as our ship, though, and we made our way into the middle of the river before we started to depart. The other shops started to move ten minutes later, and I could see the dead on many of the ships. More and more sails started to get on the river and it was only forty minutes once the first ship hit a sand bank.
I winced as our ship's captain navigated the river's perils while I watched the shore and other ships. Things went from bad to worse as the military arrived while more and more ships took to the river to run away. Fire sprang up, and I couldn't see what was happening as a breeze took to our sails, much to my relief. The wind sped up the ship but also made navigating the river inside the city even more difficult.
A short time later, without further incident, we left the city with the Military too busy inside the city to stop us. Fires were all over the city, it seemed, and you could feel Mana moving all over the place. Much to my surprise Mana above the city started to condense, and my instincts screamed as I watched a light show above the city as the wind took us far fast.
The ships that departed quicker joined us on the river moving with the breeze that seemed to be getting more powerful. The Sailors around us worked overtime as the wind hit us harder. I watched in the sky as two people clashed hard.
Boom! BOOOM! BOOOOOM, BOOOM BOOOM!
Sounds of explosions hit, and the wind increased as the two clashed in the sky above the city, and the sonic booms of their clash hit each other. A clash suddenly hit a ship in the river below and instantly started to sing, blocking another two ships with some undead on them as they attempted to flee with us.
The fight wasn't over as we got farther, and the sonic air explosions of the clash started to get quieter as we made our distance but suddenly stopped when I saw a third person in the sky. Instantly two of them went after the other, and the explosions resumed but were much less, and soon the person that was solo was taken by the two, and the explosions ended.
ARRRRRAAAGGGGHHHHHH! I'LL KILL ALL OF YOU! UNDEAD DO-!
Sudden words filled with mana were suddenly cut off, and a mana-filled storm was suddenly started to generate, only to die the moment the words were cut off. My spine shuddered and tingled as I heard everything come to an end, and the wind started to slow.
The sun started to rise on the horizon as I watched and slowly came up into the vision of the world. The city was no longer on fire, and the Captian continued to shout out orders as the large number of ships behind us also began to regain their footing and sail down the river towards the next city.
The Escape had begun, but things were not going to be simple still. We had plenty of rivers to go, and the Military had dealt with whatever the Necromancer guild did in the City. The night was one of hell for the people, and many ships were stuck and tied with ships that had a legit business reason to leave before taking off. The Necromancers that escaped were on other ships other than the one that got on the ship with me.
The Necromancer walked up to me with their cloak still covering their face. "This was a shit show. The Necromancer guild betrayed us." An oddly genderless voice said, and I turned to this Necromancer flowing with Life mana.
"I have no idea what the Necromancers guild's plan was, but I think it was a particularly stupid one," I commented.
"The leader of the guild was after something; I Didn't know what, and whatever it was, it wouldn't be useful to me. I chose a different path and decided to make a new form of Undead. Still, I am relying on some of the older ways, but I am striving forward in my own way but never will need what a traditional Necromancer needs," The Necromancer said. They turned, looked out towards the other ships, and nodded, "The Other necromancers have sent me a message, and apparently, more ships got out of the trap. Another B-rank Necromancer has also ascended while trying to survive and transformed into a Lich. We have increased battle prowess, but the Military in other cities is strong."
I couldn't help but chuckle, "We will avoid the Military from now on. They may search our ships but they should find nothing about us," I told the Necromancer, "There is a reason we killed the B rankers and many that we engaged with in battle. They do not know who we are and have no descriptions. We shall hide our power and evade. The few must avoid the strong, Necromancer." I told her, "For now, I need to rejuvenate, and you should meditate. We may need to battle again in the future," I told the Necromancer, who nodded.
We departed, and I found Kitty being petted by Kara as she had finished cleaning the cabin as I entered. "Kara, I must sleep," I told her, and she nodded. She stripped, and I shook my head, "Lay with me to sleep, not have sex with me. I am tired, and I can tell you are." I said, and I stripped myself and got into bed.
I knew Freya and Stacy would wake me if it was important, and I fell asleep as soon as I hit the pillow.
