Adelaide sat staring at her breakfast. There was so much going on in her head. When she'd woken up she'd once again had that stinging pain in her arm, yet she could not remember the dream, only little snippets here and there.

It felt like her brain was on fire. She was a natural Legilimens, and for some reason this morning everyone was so loud, she couldn't drown them out, all these people crammed inside her head. She knew someone was trying to talk to her but she just couldn't answer.

It wasn't that she couldn't hear them through all that chatter, or even understand them, but more so the fact that she could decipher each and every separate conversation around her and it was too much for her human mind to handle.

And that, was way worse than nails on a chalkboard.

She finally mustered enough strength to look away from her food, to see who was trying to get her attention, And of course it was none other than the infamous Mattheo riddle.

She looked up at him with dull eyes, and when he noticed there was no light in them, he wondered what was wrong instantly. He tried to express his concern as he hesitantly placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Hey, Adelaide are you okay?"

But she ignored him. Because why would he care? He was just some stupid boy in her class, who just so happened to be the son of the most powerful dark wizard of all time, so why would he be worried about her - he barely knew her. He didn't care for her, he didn't care for anyone.

She turned to see Harry looking at her from across the room. He shook his head as if to say "don't talk to him, you promised." But he didn't need to do the gesture for she could already hear him from across the hall. His thoughts where always so loud, so she never tuned into his thoughts unless she felt it was necessary.
She didn't want to deal with the younger Riddle any longer and she had to get to herbology so she stood up and started to walk away from him.

But the voices that surrounded her started to get further away. They sounded funny, as if they had been shoved underwater, and when she moved, the walls swayed and the floor pulsated. Her vision was murky and hazy, like when you keep your eyes open in dirty waters, or the way everything looks during a dream.

She shook her head, hoping it would get rid of the patches and the blind spots that appeared with in her vision. Her body ached and burned, whilst her steps slowed and her ears rung.

Until everything went black.

Mattheo had been following behind her, as he wanted to apologise about getting ink on her assignment the night before. But when she walked off without answering him he would be lying if he said he wasn't annoyed. So he stormed out to follow her. At first he had to jog to catch up with her but slowly her steps shortened. Until she fell.

Mattheo managed to catch her as she lost consciousness.
"Adelaide, Adelaide." He tapped her cheeks trying to wake her up, and when he did noticed how hot she was, she was burning up.

When she came back round her head was in Mattheos lap and she was on the floor.
She looked up at him, her eyes betraying how disoriented she was. "What," she started trying to find the words, they were on the tip of her tongue. "What happened?" She managed to choke out. "You passed out." He answered.

She blinked and quickly sat up and Mattheo used his hand on her back to support her.
"Adelaide, you're burning up I think you should go to Madame pomfrey." He said when she looked at him.

"I don't need your opinions thank you very much, I have to get to herbology" He rolled his eyes and huffed before stood up and picked her up bridal style.

"HEY. RIDDLE. WHAT ARE YOU- PUT ME DOWN THIS INSTANT!" She yelled. People stared as they past them, but Mattheo simply smirked, even as Adelaide started weakly smacking his shoulder.

When they got to Madame Pomfrey, she told them that Mattheo had done a good job getting Adelaide there, for even though she only had a fever, it could've gone worse if she hadn't got the medicine she needed.

The female potter was now sitting in a bed, with Mattheo sitting in a chair beside her.
"Why are you still here?" She hissed at him. "Well, I- just had something to give you and I wanted to try and spend as much time here as I could before I'm forced to go back to class that's all."

She looked at the boy questioningly, wondering what he could possibly have to give to her.
"Here." He said, passing her some notes. "I am..." he hesitated for a bit before taking a deep breath and continuing. "I am... sorry for being such a dick and ruining your notes. I hope we can move over it been as I've rewritten them for you, or well us, because it's meant to be a partner project." He bit his lip looking at her, waiting for her response.

She wondered if he was messing with her, for she was a Ravenclaw and he was a Slytherin, meaning most of them were never sincere, with a few exceptions here and there. The girl hesitantly grabbed the notes before quickly scanning over them.
"Oh." She squeaked once she realised he was being honest with her. She wasn't used to that. "Well," she cleared her throat, "um, thank you. And uh, yes I guess we can move past that." She gulped before looking back at her lap.

He gave her a short smile before heading off to class. "I'll see you around potter."
"See you around." She muttered quietly enough so that she couldn't hear him.

But now he was beginning to be nice to her, she couldn't let it get to her brain, since her brother had asked her to stay away from the boy. And she told herself she would, since he was an awful person anyway. But if so, why couldn't she stop thinking about him, and the way he carried her to the hospital wing? It stuck with her day and night and she couldn't let go of it. And she wondered. If maybe, just maybe Mattheo may be not be what they expected.
