Kane made his way through the halls toward the Third Tower where the nightly alpha meetings took place. Every alpha met in one large room that wasn't nearly enough space for every single one of them. Baela walked with him, bumping into him as they walked. He was glad to have Baela beside him. Without her, Kane was sure that he would shred apart every single person in this godforsaken compound.
He paused outside the door to the Third Tower, already wishing that he could be anywhere else. Usually, the title of alpha was regarded as a high honor and anyone who carried it did so like they were a gift to humanity. Kane knew the truth, though. Every single alpha was just an arrogant son of a bitch who barely cared about their pack. He despised the whole lot of them. Baela pressed against his leg reassuringly. Kane gave her a grim smile before pushing the door open.
He was greeted with the sound of a cacophony of voices all talking over each other. He heaved a sigh as he pushed his way through the crowded room. The other alphas begrudgingly moved aside, knowing that he was bigger prey than they could deal with. He moved until he'd found a seat that was far enough away from the center of the room that no one would want to talk to him. Baela sat beside him, her massive head resting on the table in front of him. He stroked her fur letting the motion calm his raging nerves.
The alpha of the First Pack, Ethan, took his seat in the center of the room. Ethan was the Supreme's second in command, which meant that he got the honor of leading these shitshows they called a meeting. Ethan stared at all of the gathered alphas, glaring until everyone found a seat. No one bothered to sit next to him. Baela glared at any bonded that tried to get close, so every chose to give them a wide berth.
"Alright," Ethan began, his voice echoing throughout the room, "What's our first order of business today brothers?"
Kane rolled his eyes as he relaxed back into his chair. The wood creaked and groaned under his weight. These chairs weren't made for people as massive as Kane had become. He sighed heavily, wanting this to be over already.
"I say we address the elephant in the room," the creep, Anders, started in on his bullshit, "Finley has been looking fine recently."
Snickers filled the room at his words. Kane refused to show any reaction on his face. These meetings always went this way. Someone always brought up Finley and how inconvenient her presence in the Brotherhood was and Kane had to suffer through the insufferable shit they spewed.
"She hasn't been doing very well in the ring though," Dustin spoke up, "I bet I could knock her on her ass easily."
Anders laughed, "I know what I'd do once I got her pinned."
Their laughter raked over Kane's senses. Anger surged within him, but again he refused to let a hint of it show. Baela bared her teeth from where she sat beside him. Baela had always been fond of Finley and Titan, though Kane couldn't understand why. He knew that these conversations agitated her far more than they ever angered him though. He often contemplated what it would be like if he unleashed Baela on all of them. He was sure that she'd rip them to shreds quicker than most of them could blink.
"Is there an actual issue with Finley?" Ethan demanded. "Or are you all just a pack of horny motherfuckers?"
Laughter echoed through the room again, louder this time. Kane's face didn't change at all. He just gazed around him, studying his so called peers. He loathed most of them and the rest of them he barely tolerated. In many ways, he was just as out of place here as Finley.
"I guess we're just horny, but seriously can anyone give me an honest answer as to why we didn't throw her out into the village with the rest of the pretty little girls?" Anders asked, bitterness coating his voice.
