Yeji x Lia

Source: Archive Of Our Own

Summary: Jisu just can't stand to see her best friend being irresponsible with her future, so she caringly decides to help.

"Excuse me, can I come in?"

It was twenty minutes into the second period. The door opened, and a girl walked into the classroom without even waiting for an answer, ignoring the stares of her classmates. Was it the first time?

"She didn't have to come back."

The teacher sighed heavily. Who else but Hwang Yeji would come to school in the middle of the day?

The girl, without even taking off her outerwear, plopped down in her seat at the second desk, pulling out a notebook and a pencil case for show. Of course, she wasn't going to write anything. So, what was the dumbass doing at the second desk? The reason was sitting next to her. Jisu nodded briefly to her friend, looking away from the textbook for just a second.

During the whole lesson, she never looked to her right, unlike Yeji. It's because Hwang didn't go to school to study. Her favorite things to do were argue with teachers about topics she didn't know a thing about, make ridiculous videos on her phone, pick on junior high school students, blow her horn in the toilet, and watch Jisu study hard. The latter habit appeared somehow by itself.

Back in elementary school, the girls loved to talk in class. No matter what was going on around them, the two were always pulling each other apart, talking all sorts of nonsense and laughing out loud. But now, in her senior year, Jisu was getting even more and more absorbed in her studies, leaving her friend to just stare at her in silence. At first, Yeji was sad.

She even resented it. How could Jisu trade her for some notebooks and books? How was that fair? However, now this silence did not upset the girl at all.

During class, Yeji slowly, as if studying, looked at all the smallest details in her friend's appearance. Today, her chocolate hair was tied back in a light ponytail, a thin black turtleneck tucked into a plaid skirt highlighted her thin, sharp shoulders, she wore the same glasses, her eyelids were slightly tinted brown and her lips were peach-colored lipstick. I wonder what tone it is?

Yeji turned her attention to her hands. Wow, another new manicure. Last week, she changed from coral to pink, and today it's dark blue. The ring on her middle finger is the same, and so are her earrings.

Why does Yeji do this? Because she has a lot of free time. Does Jisu notice this? Of course, she does. She notices, but she doesn't say anything. If you ask her, "Why are you staring at me?" she'll say, "No reason." We've already tried that. So, the girl was no longer distracted by her friend's strange behavior, listening attentively to the teacher's story. That's why she didn't see how Yeji bit her lower lip without looking away.

As soon as the bell rang, Jisu closed her notebook and handed it to her friend.

"Copy it for yourself. There was a new topic today, if you miss it, you won't understand it later."

"Mm."

Either agreeing or disagreeing, Yeji mumbled, chewing on a large piece of croissant.

Seeing no clear reaction, Jisu placed the outline right in front of her, sighing.

"Yeji, I'm serious. It's already April, there's not much time left before the exams, and you haven't done much of anything for a year, so come on, this is just the thing..."

Yeji didn't let her finish, shoving a piece of her croissant into the girl's mouth. She patted her shoulder, laughing softly.

"Hey, why are you so worried about this? It's just my grades. Whatever happens, happens. I don't care."
