Chapter 10 - PicturesJulia's P.O.V.
We walk silently and after a moment, Harry begins to swing our arms between us. I look at him, pouting.
"Let me go and stop being sweet. I'm still upset that you yelled at me earlier."
"I'm just trying to keep up body heat. The more you move, the warmer you are." He laughs, shaking his head.
"But seriously. Just don't be mad at me." He suggests, pursing his lips and barely shrugging with an innocent smile.
"But you were being a jerk." I insist stubbornly.
He shakes his head, looking down at me. His expression is serious, no hint of joking in his deep green eyes.
"I was worried about you."
My heart throbs painfully in my chest at the sincerity in his voice. And as I'm reminded of his sudden disinterest earlier, I can't bear to meet his gaze anymore.
Although he doesn't say anything, and I can't see his face, I get the feeling he's surprised by my reaction. But he doesn't say anything more as we walk in silence. He still hasn't let go of my hand.
His fingers are still woven between mine as gently as they were when he first took my hand. He still swings our arms slightly between us, and it's playing my heartstrings like a harp.
"Diana?"
I have to remind myself to keep my eyes on the sidewalk. Because from the hesitance in his voice, I know that whatever he says next will make me melt if I'm looking at him.
There's a few moments of silence in the frosty winter air before he finally speaks up in a shy murmur. "Thank you for being my friend..."
I pause for a moment, not even attempting to hide my smile. "Of course, Harry..."
We continue to walk, the freezing air seeming to be creeping around us, raising goosebumps on my skin and making my teeth chatter. As the sun is beginning it's descent into the horizon, I can see every puff of steam that appears with each breath we take. The only thing that softens the discomfort is the warmth of Harry's hand in mine.
"Cold...?" Harry says quietly, squeezing my hand lightly.
"What gave it away?" I laugh a little quietly, sparing a quick glance at his face.
"You're shaking like a leaf... And I thought you may want to know that I think you lost a few fingers somewhere back there to frostbite." He states calmly, dimples appearing in his cheeks as he grins broadly.
Stop playing with my emotions, you idiot.
"That's unfortunate..." I murmur, sucking in a trembling breath. I hadn't realized it before, but he's right. My entire body is shaking.
Harry frowns, shaking his head a little as he looks forward with his brows furrowed. "I wish I had a jacket I could give you..." He sighs, his thumb rubbing small circles into my hand.
"You don't have a jacket..." I realize, frowning.
"Aren't you cold?"
He purses his lips, shaking his head a little. "No, not really... I'm always kinda hot, so it's not too bad for me right now..."
"Lucky..." I shiver enviously.
He laughs, reaching up with his free hand to pull off his beanie, pulling me to a stop. I can't help but grin when he drops my hand and turns to face me, tugging the thick material over my head. But I can already tell it's too big when the edge of the warm cotton cuts across my forehead and completely covers my ears.
