Jacqueline's Pov
"Come on Jacqueline!" Dai said as she happily got out of the car, "We're going to be late to school!"
We entered inside the school building. Geez. This is going to be annoying. Everyone's acting differently than they usually do this morning. I mean there's been no insults fired between any of them at all. And they're all acting like celebrities.
"Oh my god! Did you see that new girl?!" Before I even realized it, it was already time for lunch and a crowd had formed around us. Well, I was hanging around the coolest kids in school. Funny to say, but it seems as if the Cordova's actually do rule over this school.
As we entered through the cafeteria doors, I felt a slight tug on my arm as I was pulled aside.
"Tyler..." I said in shock. I hadn't seen him in what seemed like forever. And by the expression on his face, he looked worried.
"Are you okay?!" Tyler said with an anxious expression, "I was so worried about you! The other day I stopped by your place only to realize that you've been put on Silver!"
"I'm fine." I said with a blank expression. Without even realizing it, he had me pinned to the wall and was towering down at me. The air felt tense and it was a little awkward for me to be standing in this position with Tyler.
"Geez." Tyler said with a sigh as he slumped down in a corner. I followed his lead and slowly sat down beside him, "You could've stopped by my place. My parents would've gladly taken you in. Now I see that you're with the Cordova's...wait, have you become-"
"No. Of course not!" I say defending myself, "As if! I can't believe you'd think I'd do something so low and awful!"
"That's true." Tyler said with a smile, "I shouldn't have doubted you. This must be all part of your plan. I'm sorry."
"It's fine." I said as I sighed and got up, "I better get heading back anyways. Don't want them to get suspicious, you know?"
"Yeah." Tyler said with a sly grin, "Good luck Jac!"
"You too Tyler!" And with those final words, Tyler walked away.
I headed back into the lunch room and regrouped with everyone else.
"Hey." I said as I sat down next to Dai.
"Hi." Dai quietly said. Dai was keeping up the act. Even at the table. The reason for that is that the table was practically surrounded by every guy in our grade, and they were all watching Dai.
I felt my cheeks turn red. Geez, why didn't I get this kind of attention on my first day here? Am I that ugly or something?
"H-hey guys." I called out to them. They all turned their gazes to me and started whispering to each other, "Can you please leave us alone? We just want to have a quiet lunch."
They all looked at Nicolaus who gave them a slight nod. In unison they then said, "Sorry" and parted ways.
Realizing all the power Nicolaus has, I slouched in my seat. If maybe I would've started school the same time Nicolaus had, I'd had my own group and my own territory.
The same goes for the real world. The Cordova's are more open with the outside world, meaning they have more connections then us Ansley's. Of course no one knows the identities of who's inside their organization except for a select few, but Ansley's work a lot different then Cordova's. Across the world, the House of Ansley is only known to those who work in underground connections. Black markets, illegal meetings, mafias, ranks...when it comes down to it, the only thing the Ansley's care about is rank and power.
