A little girl around the age of 9 sat alone in the dark. The only light she saw came from a tiny crack at the bottom of the door. That's the only
light she'd seen in quite some time. For she had not been outside for a countless amount of days.

The door slowly creaked open as the girl shielded her face from the light. The light. Was so beautiful yet harmful to her delicate eyes since she was used to being in full darkness. And she hated it. The light. How could something so beautiful exist in such a terrible and cruel place?

The girl dared not to look up. She cast her sight downward to see a shadow that appeared to be a man.

"Why are you here in the dark alone?" The voice echoed in the room. The girl was not filled with terror for the voice was honey sweet and had a certain kindness behind it.

"I'm-alone?" The girl asked, "What's alone?"

The girl knew not the meaning of the word. For she'd been alone for quite some time, it was hard for her to understand what being alone was.

The man opened the door wider as the girl hissed like a snake and hid in her closet.

"Do you not like the light?" The man asked as he slowly walked up to the closet's door. She felt as the door's knob slowly turned and she screamed in fright.

"NO! STOP!" The girl said in fright as she hugged her legs.  The room was filled with silence. A piercing silence that for some odd reason, made the girl feel uncomfortable.

"A-are you still there?" The girl shyly asked.

"Yes. I am." The voice said.

"W-why-are-you-here? N-no one has come to see me in a long time." The girl said in a low voice.

"Then how is it that you eat?" The man asks, "Surely you must eat in order to survive." The girl heard as the man slowly slid down and sat on the ground, leaning against the wall.

"I-I don't know." The girl said in a confused tone, "E-every time I wake up, the food's just there."

"And what do you do here in the dark?" The man asks.

"W-what do I do? What do I do..." The girl whispered softly.

"Well?"

"Nothing. I just sit here in the dark with my dolls. Thinking. What else is there to do?" The girl says in a bland tone.

"Do you ever even have fun?" He asks.

"Fun...I don't think I've ever experienced fun. What is this fun that you speak of?" The little girl asked.

"Step out of the closet and I'll tell you to meaning of fun." The man says.

"Why should I trust you?" The girl asks, "You're just a stranger I've only met..."

"You don't have to trust me. But if you don't, you'll stay in darkness for the rest of your life." The man kindly says, "Come out, and I'll show you a world you've never experienced before."

"A world I've never experienced before..." The girl said softly as she turned the knob. The girl halted as a flashback of gory memories appeared in her head.

"That world that you speak of is DESPICABLE AND CRUEL! I never want to see the LIGHT OF DAY AGAIN!" The girl screamed.

"What if I told you I had cookies?" The man asked.

"C-Cookies?" The girl asked.

"Yea. I have chocolate chip, Oreo, sugar cookies, any type of cookies you may want!" The man said in a happy tone.
