She looked like Allison but with red hair, she was adorable.
"I'm Victoria" was all she said before running out the door. I don't know why but I felt the need to go after her, something in my head said to get her back here because she would be in trouble if she left. I didn't even think about it, I ran out the door after her leaving Ally there with her thoughts or so I thought, I turned to my side, and she was right there running after the girl with me.
"Dani?" "Yes, Ally?" "Why do I have a strong feeling to run after this girl? why are we running after her? we don't even really know her!" she questioned as we ran. "I don't know but I feel sort of protective of her, I have since she opened her eyes, I felt the same way about you when I first saw you." I kept running but noticed Ally stopped, so did the girl. "You actually feel protective of me?" Ally and Victoria asked at the same time, both giving me a look that seemed wistful. I looked between them both then put my head down and nodded. "Yes, extremely, and before you ask no, I don't know why." Neither of them said anything, so I looked up they both looked like they were going to cry if I said anything else, so I smiled at them shyly. I opened my mouth to speak again but was cut off by Victoria running up and hugging me, Ally a few seconds after.
"Ally? Tommy?" all three of us looked up, "Syd?" Ally and I said in unison, "Did you really just go to her house just to run back here?" Sydnie laughed for a minute then stopped and looked at Victoria, "Oh, who is that cutie clinging to my brother?" Victoria hid behind my arm which caused Sydnie to give me a questioning look. "This is Victoria, she is staying with me for a while." Ally said which caused me and Victoria to look at her. "I am?" Victoria asked in a small voice, Ally responded with a smile and a nod which led to Victoria smiling and hugging her. "Oh, how cute, you three make the cutest little family." Sydnie smirked giving Ally a wink. "Why did you wink at her when you said that?" I asked Ally in a low voice, so Sydnie didn't hear. "We can talk about this later Dani. Now is not a good time for that." She said making a quick glance towards Victoria.
Finally, back at Ally's and Victoria fell asleep in Ally's arms, I pointed it out to her. "Can you take her and put her in my bed, I'm going to cleaning up a bit?" she asked in a soft voice to not wake Victoria, I simply nodded as I got up and took the girl in my arms as I began walking towards Ally's room. When I got there, I pulled back the covers before placing the peacefully sleeping child in the bed and putting the covers over her. Before leaving the room, I kissed the girl's head. "Sweet dreams angel." I whispered as I tiptoed out of the room.
When I got back to the living room it was already cleaned up, so I looked around for Ally. "Ally?" I called out, "Kitchen." was all she said so I walked into the kitchen to see her sitting at the table with a cup of coffee and a book. "What are you reading?" "It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han." I just nodded and sat down with her. "You're going to ask me why your sister winked at me again aren't you?" she asked not looking up from her book as she sipped her coffee. I just stared at her for a minute, "why did she wink at you, after saying you, Victoria and I make a cute family?" I asked in almost a whisper. "Your sister is under the impression that I have a crush on you." Ally retorted in almost a disgusted tone; I felt my heart drop at her words and tone of voice. "Oh." Was all I said before going to stand up to go home. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said it like that." She put her put down and sat straight as if she was going to jump out of her chair. "Your sister thinks that because I am with you all the time and never really with her and anyone else that I have a crush on you. She thinks I'm spending so much time with you because I like you." as she spoke, I watched her carefully, she blushed when she said the last three words. "I like you" Does she actually like me? I smiled as just those three words played on a loop in my head. "I like you too." I said quietly hoping maybe there would be a chance of her not hearing, but she did, I know it because she smiled and looked down as her cheeks lit up the most beautiful pink I had ever seen. Before she could say anything, we heard Victoria screaming. We looked at each other before we both ran to the bedroom to see if she was okay, she was sleeping. "Oh, the poor baby she's having a nightmare." Ally said looking at Victoria with sad eyes. I walked over to the bed and sat next to where Victoria was sleeping, she was sweating, and it looked like she had been crying. "Shhhh, It's okay baby, you're safe with us." I heard Ally say as she went to the other side of Victoria to rub her head gently. We both sat there with her for a while just talking and making sure Victoria was okay until she started to stir in her sleep. Finally, she opened her eyes and looked around the room then at us. "I had a dream about him again. He is why I lost my mommy." She started crying as she spoke. "Who baby, who made you lose your mommy?" Ally asked as we both wrapped our arms around Victoria in attempt to calm her down. "Daddy." was all she said before she snapped her eyes up at us.
"Will you be my new mommy and daddy?" My eyes widened as did Ally's. "Honey, I wish I could just say yes, and it was real, but for that to happen we need to do a lot of paperwork and go to courts to see if we can even adopt you, not that I'm saying we would do that together but-" "we can go to the adoption place and see." I cut Ally off with a smile. "Can we go now I don't want him to come looks for me when he gets back." "Back from where Victoria?" "Jail, he was taken away for hurting me before I lost mommy." I just nodded and glanced at Ally, she looked so sad. "We can go now to see if Dani and I can adopt you if that is what you really want." Ally spoke softly looking at me, I smiled at her and nodded.
Victoria skipped the whole way to my house to get my car to go to the adoption place. When we got to my house, she stopped for a second, "Will we all live here?" Victoria looked up at me. I just looked at Ally. "No baby, we are going to live in the other house this house is his moms." I gave her a confused look. "The room you woke up in was mine, you can have it Dani and I will take the other room." Ally said. "I have to go potty." Victoria looked at me, I nodded and took her inside telling her I would be waiting on the couch. Ally soon came in. "Your house is only a two-bedroom. One room is yours, the other is your moms." Ally just shook her head. "When you brought her to the bed my mom called, she got arrested for possession of a controlled substance, she won't be back for a few years." she said as I nodded. "Your house is still only a two-bedroom." I stared at her. "We can share my mom's room Dani it won't be the end of the world." she rolled her eyes. "If it makes you uncomfortable, I can just get out the old trundle bed from the garage." I just shook my head not being able to respond as Victoria came out of the bathroom wiping her hands on her shirt. "She needs new clothes." Ally whispered as Victoria got to the couch.
"Let's go see if we can adopt us a daughter." Ally joked as we got up and went to the door.
"WHAT?!"
Oh shit.
