I had to rush to a meeting when Rishi texted me. Suddenly a video call said it was an emergency. I fell for his little lies this time only to learn that he just wanted to show off his new car. He video-called me while standing at a popular car showroom and asked me to help him choose what color of BMW will suit his personality.
'What a Jerk!!' I whispered under my breath. I confronted him because he lied to me to get me on a video call, to do what? show completely useless stuff.
'Haha, why do you get so serious every time we talk? Look at me, I'm living my life without thinking too much, unlike you who always have the weirdest and useless thoughts going on in your free mind. You should use this brain to work and be successful - Rishi started lecturing me on a video call. A call that he did to show off his useless demonstration of a car.
'Ughhh...'- I took a deep breath and sighed. 'You're as useless as this car. This is why your brain is stuck somewhere in its engine. Go find it. Maybe you'll locate your tiny brain inside that pointless car' - I fumed with anger and thrashed him through my words.
Why would I stay quiet and hold my words when jerks like him don't even think before opening their mouths? Do hell with etiquettes and the good girl trope. - I recited in my mind.
It was so annoying, I wanted to punch him in the face but I was on a call with him.
'Stop bullshiting lady. Please hurry up, I've important stuff to handle, unlike you' - Rishi stared at the screen and then started checking out the car's features.'
I was boiling up because of his attitude. How dare he undermine me with his crappy excuse?
'See, I'm not free as well, I need to get back to the meeting as soon as possible. And about the color, it doesn't even matter. You should stop wasting your time and choose whichever you like.'
His stupidity is limitless but I can't do much than tolerate him because he's a son of ( *a bxtch*bet you read it right) my father's colleague and we've been friends ( more like one-sided friendship) since childhood. No matter how much I try to avoid his nonsense, this idiot always finds one or the other way to get on my nerves. After cutting the call, I went straight to the meeting hall, while also thinking of ways to avoid this man as much as possible.
After finishing a taxing meeting, I remembered to text Riya. I was boiling with worries. I wanted to get the team lead out of our team in any way possible.
It was past lunchtime, and I didn't see Riya anywhere, nor had she seen and responded to my text. I got even more worried. My stomach started growling, even though I had a light lunch. I started feeling uneasy because it was a lot more stressful. I decided to take a walk in the office lobby and grab a drink from the cafeteria.
'Hey Kila, haven't seen you in a while, waah' - I heard someone calling my name behind me, loud enough to make others in the cafeteria stare in amazement.
It didn't take me a second to locate the voice. Before I can spot the person, I received a speedy long hug from Sheri. 'Where are you these days, oh god! I thought you left the company. You don't know much I missed talking to you about books.
I was stormed by so many inquisitive questions while being squeezed by Sheri. ' I even have a long list of novels for you to read. You're an idiot, you should've at least texted me. I cannot even hate you, if I do who will I share my book recs....- Sheri continued to whine while squeezing me tightly.
I won't say I like it, but I'm struggling to breathe. She then started making fake weird faces, deliberately trying to cry.
While trying to breathe, I managed to utter a few words out of my mouth - 'Sheri, please, I'll be dissolved in the air if you don't release me from your gentle embrace, imm— mediately.' I coughed
