"Who?" Jean and Harry both asked in sync. Jean who had far more knowledge of the wizarding world than Harry was searching her brain trying to uncover where she recognised that name from. Sirius Black?Sirius Black? Sirius Black??
"Oh" Her blood ran cold as the realisation hit her, Sirius Black, the mass murderer who brutally killed 12 muggles and was one of The Dark Lord's most devoted followers "Oh my God" she gulped nervously
"Who is he?" Harry repeated, feeling slightly anxious at how pale Jean had turned when she recognised the name. "What did he do?"
"He-" the words stuck with fear in her throat, she knew that her father was once friends with the man and could not stop her imagination running wild with scenarios of Sirius Black murdering her dad. Remus sighed and told Harry "Sirius Black was- Is a death eater who murdered 12 muggles and several wizards in one night".
Jean was confused "Okay like that's really scary and all but what does this have to do with us? I mean it's not like Azkaban is right on the outskirts of Flushing is it?" Remus was silent "Is it?!" She asked, panic lacing her words as she tried to remember where the infamous wizarding prison was maybe it's closer to Cornwall than I thought.Remus just shook his head, and answered with a simple "No." shutting down his daughter's racing mind about the location of the prison.
"Harry I'm very sorry but I've received an owl from Professor Dumbledore who believes that for your own safety you should head back to your aunt and uncle's for the rest of summer"
Hearing this, Jean immediately saw Harry's entire demeanour change, like a huge weight had been draped around his shoulders, the poor boy looked miserable.
She could not believe her ears "What?! Dad, surely Harry's safer here than living with a bunch of muggles?" She could not believe that Harry's visit to Cornwall was getting cut so short, it felt immensely unfair to make him spend the majority of summer with people who hated him.
Remus held up a hand to silence her "Jean, Harry, I'm sorry but it's not up to me, in circumstances like this, Dumbledore knows best." Jean opened her mouth to argue with her father, but snapped it shut as she saw the paleness of his face and the panicked gleam in his eyes.
Jean saw Remus notice the despair appearing on the Potter boy's face and watched him try to explain the situation to him without telling him the true danger of it
"Now Harry, I understand that it's perhaps not the most- err compassionate environment at your Aunt and Uncle's" Harry but back a scoff and murmured to Jean "biggest understatement of the century" She could not withhold a snort at this comment, which earned her a 'Seriously-Shut-The-Fuck-Up' glare from Remus as he continued on "But I cannot stress the jeopardy of this situation enough, He's one of Voldemort's most dangerous supporters which means that you are likely a very big target for him."
Jean saw Harry's eyes flash with anxiety for a second, she gently laced her fingers with his and gave his hand a reassuring squeeze as her dad continued "If you lay low in the muggle world for the rest of the summer, there's far less possibility of him discovering your whereabouts. I'm sure that you'd much rather have to spend a summer with your relatives than be exposed to Black."
Harry finally piped up, "I understand Mr Lupin, thank you for having me to stay these past two weeks." Suddenly Remus looked very guilty at how polite the boy was being "Harry it was really no trouble at all, Merlin Jean talks about you practically every other sentence in her letters, I'm so glad to have finally met you!" Remus said this in hopes of relieving the tension that had appeared in the air.
Harry turned to look at his friend with his amusement apparent on his face "Really Jee?" He asked with false curiosity "Every other sentence?" Jean felt like punching her father "Daaadd" she groaned "actually what is wrong with you?" A slight blush had appeared on her face again, Her dad saw this and chuckled to himself. "Harry I suggest you start packing up your things soon, Dumbledore said that the sooner we can leave the better" Jean practically sighed with relief at the topic change "I'll help, Harry"she said, bounding out of the kitchen and up the stairs to the guest room where Harry was staying

After Harry had packed his bags, he and Jean were sat in her bedroom, well Harry was sat at her desk chair while she was laying on the floor staring up at the ceiling and murmuring lyrics to the music her muggle stereo was playing faintly. A comfortable silence hung in the air between the two. Harry was gazing up at her many posters, photos and postcards that were covering almost every inch of her lilac walls. Right above her bed, next to a shockingly bright yellow De La Soul poster, was a particularly large one of Damon Albarn from Blur, surrounding it were small printed out hearts. Harry furrowed his eyebrows at it "I didn't take you as a Blur fan Jee"
This comment caused the girl to shoot straight up, "Harry do not say what I think you're about to say right now" there was an edge to her voice, giving it a gentle warning tone as she prayed that Harry would not betray their friendship.
Harry hesitated, wondering if his words would start an argument that could not be diffused, 'fuck it' he thought "Clearly, Oasis is the superior band" He smirked at the chaos that was about to unravel.
Jean just sat there, mouth hung open in absolute shock horror, feeling a sudden urge to smack that stupid smug smirk off of the boy's face. She could not believe that her best friend had just stuck such a huge painful dagger right in her back "Harry James Potter YOU TAKE THAT BACK RIGHT NOW!" She yelled lunging forward at him.
Harry too was in shock at Jean's insistence of Blur's superiority, had she not even heard wonderwall?
He mused to himself as he ran around barely dodging the punches that came at him. "Oh you poor, uncultured child"Jean took huge offence to his words "Oh if anybody's the philistine here, it's you Potter" She spat "Blur is so clearly the better band, firstly their music is much more creative and original, and secondly just look at Damon Albarn!" She ducked out from under Harry's arm and grabbed his face, turning it to face her poster of him "just look!" She almost sighed at the gorgeousness of the man "is he or is he not the most breathtaking man in existence? The Gallaghers can't even begin to compare to him!"
Harry sighed at his friends persistence "But you're just totally wrong there Lupin, only like 3 of Blur's songs are actually good, whereas even in Oasis' first album, every song is perfect!" He exclaimed, trying so hard to convince her.
Jean just shook her head, knowing that the both of them were too stubborn to acknowledge the others point of view "We'll just have to agree to disagree Harold, but I will convince you of Blur's greatness is it's the last thing I do" she said this with so much conviction that Harry had to admire her dedication to the band. "Yeah right Jee, that'll never happen" he scoffed.
A/N: Ik that technically Oasis' 1st album was released in 1994 and there wasn't a rivalry between the two until like 1995, but let's just pretend it was a few years earlier, also I just had to make Harry an Oasis fan bc I feel like he just so would be idkk and Jean just totally gives me blur vibes lmao. Personally I think Blur is better but I'm still a huge Oasis fan!
Also I might just like skip Harry getting to the Dursleys and maybe start the next chapter from when he's staying at the leaky cauldron because I hate just like writing the exact same bit from the book and I think that's so boring to read lol and idk, so let's just say that Remus side along apparated with Harry and that's how they got to the Dursleys :)
