"You should all get some rest. Tomorrow's another day to try." You state as you walk them back to your home, stopping right before you reach the door.

"You're not coming in?" Isabela asks as she stops, turning back to look at you with concern flooding her eyes. The only person that could put her at ease was you, truth be told, she'd have rather not spent the night without you.

"You Madrigals are quite the big family, you know. I'll probably go back to my studio."

Wrapping her arms around her body, she nods, looking away as her eyes seem distant. Isabela opens her mouth, about to offer to take you, only to remember that they had all lost their gifts. "Alright... stay safe on the way, okay?"

"Yeah. I hope you sleep well... good night."

"Night." She whispers back at your retreating figure.

As the two of you lay on your respective beds, a short distance and houses away, you toss and turn, moving in sync yet being unaware of it. Tiredness enveloped your bodies but the worries kept you up, like it would consume you entirely if you let yourself rest while Mirabel could have been in danger out there.

How could one simply fall asleep?

Coming to a decision, you quickly get out of bed, change into longsleeves, grab a lantern, and head out. "Mirabel! Come home already, please." You shout as you walk through the forest.

Maybe for others it would have been eerie, but this was a place you felt safe in. The place you and Isabela had always met, where you had loved her in the dark endlessly, where the flowers bloomed around you like a maze of dreams, which in reality were simply a maze of lilies.

But those very lilies are the ones who watched your love grow, who kept your secret, and who bloomed and wilted in accord with your love. It was a secret romance that bloomed in a garden of glass already shattered.

Walking deeper, you hear the rustling of trees as the wind blew harder. Mirabel could have been freezing, because you were, even with long sleeves on and heat seeping out of the lantern you were holding.

And she was always the type to fear the dark. Ever since she was young, she'd had hoped to avoid it, as much as she could. That's why you needed to be there for her, why you wanted to keep her company, even if it meant having to stay out longer away with her if that was what she wanted. As long as she had someone.

"Mirabel, please... please be alright." You whisper once more, arm outstretched with the lantern that you use, pointing to different directions with each step, even just hoping to get a glimpse of some kind of figure from afar.

After searching for what felt like hours, eyes drowsy and feeling like you were about to pass out, a figure seems to pass by at the corner of your eye. Running after it and grabbing their shoulder, they turn back at the same time from the sound of your steps, you happen to shout the same thing at the same time. "Mirabel?!"

Only to be disappointed to find... It wasn't her.

"Wha- Why are you out here at this time? I even brought you home to make sure you wouldn't come back out. It's almost dawn!" You ask in shock before pausing. "Well I think it's almost dawn..."

Isabela rubs her elbow before looking away. "I couldn't sleep. At least, not until she comes home. Can you blame me...? You seem to be out here doing the same thing."

"I know, but... I really hoped you'd rest. I know it isn't easy..."

"It isn't easy, but I know it's much harder on Mirabel right now. I can't bear to imagine the pain she's in right now." She whispers as she looks into your eyes. And it glimmered in the night, with worries and tears in her eyes.
