gets more awkward and cringe as questions go on.

interviewer: thankyou so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to come see us down at harpars bazaar, how have you been doing with all the chaos and stress that comes from the premiere season?

emma: oh wow, its a lot. it never gets easier over time. i just got in from sxsw a few days ago, after stopping in la for a few days, and up until that point i wasn't too much affected by the social media buzz but i believe we were the most watched show at the festival. so seeing that, only made my nerves skyrocket but I've been enjoying this time because i just care so deeply about this project. i know jesse and i are so proud of the work we did and cant wait for people to see it.

interviewer: it has been the highlight of my summer, prepping for this interview. what did you first think when you were offered the role? you didn't even audition correct?

emma: yeah no, clark reached out directly to me asking if id like to play the character and i was smitten from the moment he sent the script. i reached out to jesse rather quickly since him and his wife are my neighbors, and he was really urging me to take the role and such. it was a shock, that had never happened before in my career. i was a little too excited after that, but nevertheless shocked.

interviewer: yes! jesse said that you and his wife have been close for years and that he first approached you one night at dinner, when you came over. what was that like, being put on the spot?

emma: the first thing i said was, "fuck off." in like the most british accent since i had just finished filming there for 2 months. usually when I'm there for some time, my roots come through and all jesse and kirsten could do was laugh. i was also very unserious, and just dismissed him. but at the time, i had already committed i just hadn't told clark yet.

interviewer: that was hella british if i might say, sometimes i forget that you are half british. how is that living in America and identifying as an american? i assum that it can be tricky.

emma: you know i only went to the uk twice growing up so i was always more connected to this side of the Atlantic, especially since my mom's family is split between los angeles area and new york. though, growing up i still was forced to drink tea and my dad would sometimes cooked his british meals but all in all, i believe I'm a full throttle american gal and living in California cements that.

interviewer: forcing tea? *laughs*

emma: *laughs along* yes! i hate tea with a passion, i simply loathe it. i have a lot of friends that are british and one of my best friends is, and she laughs every time we go for high tea. ill start with tea putting loads of sugar in then move to black coffee. black tea repulses me so when my dad made tea, he would make extra so my sisters and i would try it.
