Jayfeather sat in the cave, his blue eyes fixed on the waterfall. The tom loved his new self, being able to see. He sighed, and curled his tail around his paws.
"Jay's Wing!" A call came from deeper in the cave. Jayfeather hauled himself up, and padded over to Stone Song.
"Yes?" He asked politely to the older cat.
"Half Moon would like to see you," the grey tom meowed. As Jayfeather made his way down the cave, Stone Wing continued. "Take care of her Jay's Wing."
Jayfeather blinked in confusion, but carried on back to Half Moon's cave. "Half Moon?" He called.
The she-cat appeared, her ears twitching. "Jay's Wing!" Half Moon bounded over to him.
Jayfeather purred, then sat. "You needed me?"
"Yes," Half Moon sat, her eyes glowing. "I'm having kits."
"That's great!" Jayfeather leaped to his paws.
"But Jay's Wing, what about your destiny?"
"This is my destiny now." The former medicine cat murmured.
Half Moon purred. "Then from now on, you will always be known as Jay's Wing."
Jay's Wing chuckled. "Goodbye Jayfeather."
Half Moon snorted in amusement, then pressed against him.
****************************
Half Moon jerked awake as she heard a shrill shriek of Chasing Clouds. The queen's movement woke her two daughters, Bright Sun and Rippled Water.
Bright Sun wailed, but another scream silenced her. Jay's Wing rushed into the shelter, and grasped Bright Sun.
"Jay's Wing! What's going on?" Half Moon hissed.
"There's a mountain lion." Her mate said stiffly.
The white she-cat dropped her jaw in horror.
Jay's Wing passed the kit to Shy Fawn. The brown she-cat held her Lion's Roar stiffly, but put the older kit down to hold Bright Sun. The brown queen then padded out, Lion's Roar on her heels. Jay's Wing then shoved his mate out of the den, and grabbed Rippled Water. Chasing Clouds was darting around a giant shape, letting out shrieks. Others helped. Jay's Wing bustled Half Moon across the cave, and nudged her into the large cave.
"Get on a ledge!" Rising Moon yowled from above. The grey and white she-cat stared at her daughter in horror.
Half Moon scrabbled into a crevice just big enough for her, she then got her two daughters in as well. The crouched deep within the crack, their identical green eyes wide. Fish Leap and Dove's Wing charged into the cave with terrified screeches. The grey she-cat raced onto a ledge, and stared down. Fish Leap followed her, his brown fur bushed up. Running Horse's yellow eyes glowed from a crevice, along with Cloudy Sun.
"Furled Bracken!" Broken Shadow's scream entered the air, but it was cut off as giant paws charged into the cave. The mountain lions's yellow eyes glinted, his muzzle covered in blood. Broken Shadow's body was lying limply on the ground, her eyes glazed and blank. Shy Fawn's cry of grief and terror entered the air, directing the large cat's attention.
The mountain lion prowled forwards, and sniffed the crevice where Shy Fawn, Half Moon, Lion's Roar, Bright Sun and Rippled Water were hiding. His large paw disappeared into it, and he pulled out a ginger tabby with black spots.
"Bright Sun!" Half Moon screamed.
The large cat shook the kitten around, and threw it to the ground. Bright Sun's shriek of agony was cut short as her neck snapped.
Jay's Wing watched in sheer horror and dread.
The large cat pulled two more kits out. Lion's Roar and Rippled Water were killed quickly.
Half Moon's green glare flashed towards Jay's Wing. "This would never have happened if you'd just have left!" She yowled across the cave.
Jay's Wing dropped his gaze in guilt and grief. Suddenly a bald cat appeared beside him.
"Jayfeather, go home. I told you that this isn't your destiny." Rock growled.
Jay's Wing flashed his head up. "How could you let this happen? I would have left if you told me!"
Rock sighed, "Jayfeather, you know that's not true." The cat said. "Now, go home. Go home to your brother, to your kin. To you true home." Rock then vanished.

Song: Viva La Vida - Coldplay
The song is talking about how he had so much power in Clan life, and he gave that all up to watch his kits die and his mate hate him.
