My blaring phone pulls me out of my slumber. I yawn and grab my phone checking the notifications.
"Anila- Get your ass up bitch you need to get ready"
"Vani - Mommy say to call her"
"Uncommitted St. Annes Group - 231 messages"
Now that one is my WhatsApp group with my friends it's unfortunately not inactive.
I rolled my eyes and replied to all except ,my mom's she said to call her before I leave home and have breakfast.
After calling mom i decide to make a quick breakfast and by make I mean a bowl of cereal, I look through all the crazy pictures last night and decided to post some.

I leave home a few minutes earlier so I could talk with some of my colleagues and patients. I pull into my usual parking space and sigh. Making sure my car is locked I slowly walk into the building.
"Good morning Sherry" I said as i walked into the nurses station an eruption of 'oh my god's and ohhhh' was heard along with the shuffling of chairs and feet.
Endless conversations of how proud everyone was, congratulations and a plethora of "we're going to miss you" hugs were shared but i needed to visit some patients today.

Ravi was only 4 when i met him he fell off the monkey bars at his daycare which ruptured a brain aneurism we didn't know was there, now every time he comes in for a check up he requests Nurse Randal and I.
"Ravi, how's my favorite 6 year old" i ruffle his hair and read his chart.
"I got a new book and I'm learning about salt water mammals in science" he eagerly expresses
I chuckle as he asks a question "Why are you not in uniform today?" he eyes my jeans and floral blouse.
"How many times do i tell you Ravi they wear scrubs not uniforms" his mom scolds.
"well today I'm not working I'm here to talk to my boss because I'm moving that means I will no longer be working here"
he pouts "but i don't want you to leave "
"I promise i will come back and visit okay?"
"okay" he says quietly as he holds his pinky finger out for a pinky promise and my finger quickly wraps around his. I greet his parents and make my way towards Ms. Jenn's room.
Before I know it I've spoken to everyone and I'm currently waiting my boss Dr. Shane Randolf.

"Arianna It was a pleasure to have you as a nurse at this medical institute and I wish you all the best in your new endeavors" he sweetly says as he shakes my hand. Tears well in my eyes as i walk past the nurses station and towards the exit a slow shallow breath escapes me as i drive out of the parking are knowing there's no turning back now
I sigh as I walk through the door but the smell of my mother's cooking brings a smile to my face.
"Vani wey yuh put the bread?"
"what bread you talking bout girl"
I chuckle at the sight of my two sisters bickering.
"The world would burst into flames the day you both get along" I laughed sitting down in between them.
"I'm gonna miss this" I sigh
"Miss what? d two of them wanting to kill each other over the smallest thing?" My mother scoffs and we mock her.
"Okay so its settled I'm leaving in a week who wants to help me pack?" both my sisters looks at me solemn faces.
"Whoever gets in my room first gets dibs on my clothes" they practically flew into my room after that and i quickly followed behind.
Looking at my piles of clothing I quickly concluded that I need some boxes, there is no way I'm taking all of that on the plane.
"At this rate I'm going to leave with 2 pairs of pants and a pajama" I laugh looking at my sisters who are currently fighting over a my sponge bob t-shirt.
After a few more hours and a long shower I decided to hit the sheets, but this time not in my bedroom but in the living room with Vani and Angel, I feel myself sleepwalking towards my spot on the gigantic blow up mattress while they try to find a show sleep swallows me.
