Jihyo considers her highschool life as one of the best parts of her teenage years. She was a basketball varsity, girls cheered for her whenever she’s on the court, and she had a lot of friends. Some of them are still within her reach even now that they’re already adults and working most days in a week.
So when their school announced an alumni party, Jihyo didn’t hesitate in attending. She wore faded jeans, tucked in a plain white shirt, and put on her converse shoes. She looked at herself in the mirror, eyeing her simple outfit as she pulled her short hair up in a half pony. Jihyo couldn’t help but feel like something’s missing. She tried going through her closet, putting on coats and jackets of different styles but none is clicking her mood for the night. That is until she saw a red cloth neatly folded at the farthest part of her closet. She smiled, took it, and went back to the mirror.
Jihyo smiled, a big one. She just found her old red varsity jacket, the one that she and her team got when they won the last championship game of Jihyo before she graduated. She ran a hand across the letter C patched at the left chest of the jacket, memories flooding her mind of that wonderful night while she held the championship cup and her teammates carried her around the gym while chanting Captain! Jihyo! until their lungs give out.
She took one last look, giving her cat a few kisses and head scratches, before finally leaving with her car on her way to her old school.
As soon as Jihyo reached the parking lot, she could hear the loud music from the school gym and some lights leaking out through the windows. She hopped out, locked her car and stared at the old building, smiling as she reminisced about the good old times.
“She’s here! Jihyo!”
Jihyo turned and saw her highschool friends waving at her, most specifically Nayeon and Jeongyeon, her best friends for life.
“Is this her?” Jeongyeon asked, eyeing her car after they hugged. Jihyo nodded with a smile. “She’s beautiful!” Jeongyeon commented.
“Thanks, I saw you got your baby with you too” Jihyo said and looked at the car that was parked beside her.
“I would like to get wasted on a good night like this but Nayeon’s being picky and won’t make me book a cab for us so I got no choice but to refrain myself from drinking because I’ll drive” Jeongyeon said with a sigh.
“You know me when I’m drunk, the cab driver will kick us out before we could even get near our home!” Nayeon retorts, giving Jihyo a hug too.
“I totally forgot that there’s drinks! I should’ve just booked a cab!” Jihyo groans.
“At least now, Jeongie will have an alcohol-free buddy for tonight~” Nayeon says with a teasing tone.
The two groaned, laughing as they threw their arms around their shoulders while Nayeon walked ahead of the two.
“Do you think the Japanese girls from our highschool will be here too?” Jeongyeon asked out of nowhere as they neared the school’s entrance.
