Seigaku. The definition of a normal, average school with a completely normal tennis team full of star rookies, national level players, and people bound to become famous in the big leagues someday.
And that's what I was going to go ask Chibisuke.
"Chibiiiiiii!" I call as I walk around the school, heading for the tennis courts. I grinned as I saw him playing a match with Momo.
He turned his head slightly to me before going back to ignoring me and focusing on his match.
Jeez. He doesn't have to be so rude, does he? I just wanna ask him a question. I doubt he's got anything better to do.
Besides tennis practice that is. But we both need he doesn't need it. Not really.
"Oi, Chibi!" I called again. Yeah. He wasn't about to answer. And he didn't answer until practice ended when I had to follow him out of the court and on his way back to his home.
"Ryoma," I repeated as I followed him happily back to his home. "Ryoma. Ryoma. Ryoma. Ryoma."
Yes. I was purposefully being annoying. He has to give into me at some point. Especially if I'm annoying enough.
"Ryoma, I have a favor. Ryoma," I nag, following him like a lost puppy.
"What?" Ryoma said, glancing at me before continuing on his walk home.
"Get is a spot on Seigaku's team," I say, serious in a second.
"We? You and Ryoga?" he frowned slightly before tipping his hat down. "As long as you promise not to embarrass me I'll ask Tezuka."
"Can't promise you nothing, Chibi," I smirk as I prance around him.
He scowled and stepped past me as he entered his neighborhood, headed for his house.
"Soooooooooo," I say, drawing the vowel out. "Was that a yes or a no?"
"If you stop bugging me," Ryoma said, going to the front doors of his home where I could already see Ryoga pacing in the kitchen area.
"You're going to wear a hole in the floor, Ryoga-san," said Nanako, sounding frustrated as Ryoga paused his pacing before resuming. Nanako sighed, rubbing her temples before sitting down at the counter and untying her apron.
"Ryoga, you really shouldn't be torturing your cousin like that," I smile as I walk into the home. He paused and turns to me, his serious expression slipping slowly into a wide grin at me.
"So? Did he say yes?" Ryoga said, excited.
I gestured at where Ryoma was crouched on the ground petting Karupin. "You can ask him yourself." He really can be oblivious sometimes.
Ryoga turned expectantly towards Ryoma.
He looked up at Ryoga and then back down at his cat, stroking his fur as he ignored Ryoga.
"He said if I stopped bugging him he would," I repeat.
"Seriously?" Ryoga grinned, his excitement showing as his eyes shone. "You won't regret this, Chibisuke!"
"I already do," I swear I heard Ryoma mutter under his breath. "I already do."
That makes sense though. With the two of us on the team and with him each day after school, he's going to have so much embarrassment to look forward to in the future.
I felt a smile spread across my face. This is going to be great.
