Love's Butterfly

Windy season

I was sitting by my desk, in the back row. I was drawing hearts on the bottom of the page of my pink notebook. I twirled a piece of my curled hair between my fingers. The teacher's voice blurred into the background as my mind filled with thoughts of Dominic.

I liked to imagine having his kids. I have always wanted kids when I'm young. And the thought of his baby inside of me...drove me crazy.

Suddenly the bell rang, waking me up from my dreamland. I packed my laptop and notebook into my black bag. I stood up and put on my black wool coat and my white neck scarf.

I noticed Elias and Nicco putting their puffer jackets on as they were joking with each other at the front of the class. Seeing Nicco made me miss Sage...weird that I haven't seen her. I didn't even want to look at Elias.

I walked out of the door and down the steps to the parking lot, only to see Dominic leaning on his red sports car. A wide smile grew on my face as I ran towards him and jumped on his neck, making him chuckle. "Hey baby", he murmured as he gave a kiss on my cheek while still keeping hands tightly around me. "Hey Dom", I said and gave him a little kiss. I gave him another hug.

I opened my eyes a little, and I stopped smiling. I gulped and whispered, "Elias", as I looked back to his blue eyes. Dominic turned around and faced him. Elias' jaw clenched as Dominic wrapped his hand around my body. I heard that Dominic started to breathe heavier. "Let's go home", Dominic hissed and took me to the other side of the car, opening the door for me. I got into the car and waited for him to get on his side, before driving away from the yard...and from Elias.

"How was school?", he asked as we were driving home. I looked at the leaves falling from trees. "Boring...", I said and pouted. "I'm sorry baby", he said and petted my thigh. "Has...Elias been a problem?", Dominic added. I shook my head as a no and smiled at him, receiving back a happy smile.

"I just always feel...anxious when I see him. I don't like that people dislike me", I whispered and fidgeted my hands. Dominic grabbed my thigh and petted it gently. "Oh, baby...you have such a good heart. But you can't please anyone. Just try to get him out of your head for me, please?", he said as looked at me quickly, focusing back on the road. I gave a small peck to his cheek, which made him smirk.

"Love", Dominic said as he suddenly came to the room, and stopped my thinking. I suddenly lifted my head from the book and looked at him confusedly. "Enough with this studying, you have been here for more than two hours...time for a break", he said and walked closer to me. I leaned back on my chair and said "But I have to study". "Not anymore", he said and lifted me to stand up from the chair. "But...", I complained worriedly. "No buts, you are so smart, you got this baby", he said as he gently cupped my face and pecked a kiss on my lips, making me smile.

He took my hand and started to walk me out of the library to the front door. "Where are we going?", I asked worriedly. "You'll see soon", he said with a mischievous smile as he put me my jacket on and wrapped my soft scarf around my neck. "Here's mittens", he said and handed a pair of knitted ones.

"You knit?", I asked shocked. He chuckled and answered, "No, but my mom made them". I admired them and said, "That's cute". I watched as he put on his wool coat too and his black scarf. "You look cute", I smiled widely as I walked closer to him. He wrapped his hands around my waist and said "You look cuter", and pecked a little kiss on my lips. He grabbed a basket from the kitchen table before we left the house.

We were walking at the beach. Leaves were rolling on the ground as the warm wind gently blew on them. The scenery was grey, foggy...quiet. We were about 15 minutes away from our house when he finally said, "Here", and took a blanket from the basket and laid it on the sand. "Come sit here", he said and sat down on it. I sat down next to him carefully and looked as he took out two cups of hot chocolate, chocolate, and chicken salad sandwiches.

"Oh my god, Dom", I gasped and grabbed his hand. He tried to hold back his smile when he gave me my cup of hot chocolate. "You made these sandwiches?", I asked with a smile. "Yes, I had a lot of time when you were studying", he said and smiled at me. I scooted closer to him.

"Didn't you have work today?", I asked and took a sip of my hot chocolate. "I worked a bit in the morning after I dropped you off but I took this afternoon off", he explained as he wrapped his other hand around me. I nodded and stated, "You haven't worked shifts lately". He chuckled a bit and said, "Well I only worked shifts when you were in so...I don't need to do shifts, I basically just pay bills". My eyes widened as I whispered, "You worked just because of me?". He looked down at me and gave me a small nod. "I love you", I whispered and leaned my head to him. "I love you more than you know", he said and pecked a kiss on my forehead.

"This is romantic", I said quietly and put the blanket to cover our legs. "I tried to", he whispered, squeezing me. The wind blew into my hair as we watched the ocean and the scenery changing colour.
