Jung Kook sat at his desk and stared at the notes in front of him. Nothing he had read for the past half hour had registered in his brain. All he saw in his mind's eye was Jin and his round belly.

Jin was pregnant. The love of his life was pregnant with another man's baby. Some unknown fellow, some worthless grubby tosser had put a bun in his Jinnie's oven. Was it Mr Sweet? Was he the child's father?

Jung Kook's fingers curled into a tight fist as he fought the acrid taste of jealousy on his tongue and in his mouth. There was a snap and he felt a pinch in his hand. Looking down, he observed unemotionally the broken pieces of a pen falling to the floor. He furrowed his brows before reclining his head on the head rest of his chair and turning to face the windows behind him, sighing loudly as he closed his eyes.

When did it happen? From what he could see under the barely fastened coat this morning, Jin was at least six months along, probably seven. Was this the illness that had made Jung Kook so worried a couple of months ago? The mass that he had felt on Jin's abdomen? It had been a baby??

Tears pricked the corner of Jung Kook's eyes and there was a heaviness in his chest. They had had such dreams -- he and Jin. They were going to graduate from the same university, get a job in their chosen field, marry, and then start a family. But all that had turned to dust. Destroyed in one night when Jin had disappeared, never to be seen again until that fateful evening when he had come to Yoon Gi's aid.

Perhaps it had never been Jin's dream -- to spend the rest of his life with Jung Kook. Perhaps it had all been Jung Kook's fantasy that he had projected and forced upon the other man. After all, Jin had avoided letting Jung Kook meet his parents, had never told him where he lived, and had shared only the bare minimum about his family life. If Jin had been serious about settling down with Jung Kook, he would not have hesitated to introduce Jung Kook to his future in-laws.

And all that talk about having a long engagement while they were still in uni? Perhaps Jin had suggested it so Jung Kook would stop talking about their future together and cease pressuring him into letting Jung Kook meet Jin's father so he could formally ask for his son's hand in marriage. But no, Jung Kook refused to believe that.

The way Jin had looked at him, kissed him, held him, and said his name when they were still together... they all pointed to genuine fondness. Love. It was true love and Jin had loved him, Jung Kook was certain of that. If Jin didn't have any feelings for Jung Kook, he would not have tried to look for him after Jung Kook left the country.

Jung Kook didn't know what happened the night of their graduation party but he was willing to bet it was something that Jin had not been able to overcome. Otherwise, he would have tried to look for him sooner. It would also explain why Jung Kook could not get a hold of him on the phone as he rang his number over and over from the hotel while their graduation party carried on in the background without them. Or was Jung Kook simply spinning his wheel again, looking for reasons to excuse Jin's sudden change of heart?

The door suddenly banged open behind him, and Jung Kook turned to order the uninvited visitor out but his reprimand died in his throat when he saw that it was his cousin. The older man looked fit to be tied.

"I've decided, Jung Kook. I'm terminating him. I'm going to ask Hobi for a new driver," Yoon Gi announced. "I don't want him anywhere near you. He's done."

"What?! Why?!"

"He's pregnant, Jung Kook. With another man's baby. Don't tell me that you still want him?" Yoon Gi's tone was fierce and his eyes shone with barely restrained anger.

"Of course I want him, hyung. I've always wanted him. I've never stopped wanting him." Jung Kook stood up and went around his desk. "Let's not be hasty, hyung. I'm sure there's a perfectly good explanation."
