I jolted upright and the ball turned clear, dropping into my hands. "Hermione," I said, "Um..."
She looked at me and said, "What is that?"
"Uh, an orb-"
"What was it doing? And how was it levitating?!?"
"Um, I was watching something through it, and the levitating part..." Dammit, how was I supposed to explain this?
"Did you enchant that?"
I glanced the side. "Um....Yes?" I said sheepishly, trying to cover up the lie.
She smiled and ran over to my bed. "That's amazing! You have to show me what you did-"
"I'm sorry Hermione," I said. "But you can only do it with this orb, it was designed especially for what was going on."
"Oh," she said, slightly dissapointed.
I smiled and said, "But I can show you how it works."
Her eyes perked up. "Really?"
I smiled and nodded. "Not right now though, it's kind of one of those things where I like to keep it private."
She smiled brightly and hugged me tightly. "Thank you Arabella!"
I hugged her back and said, "No problem, Hermione. So how was Hogsmeade?"
Hermione's face fell a little. "Oh yeah, about that...."
"What happened Hermione?" I asked, worried.
"Um, well...you see..."
"Just say it Hermione!" I say, sligtly frantic now. Hermione was never this inarticulate, ever. The only time she was when something bad happened.
"Well, there was a Death Eater there-"
"You're joking!" I say. How did a Death Eater get this close to Hogwarts?
She shook her head and continued. "What's weird is that he wasn't even looking for Harry."
"Really?" I asked in disbelief.
She nodded. "Ron and I even walked up to the Death Eater with him. But when we got there, he immediately started questioning us about...." Hermione was obviously thinking very hard about this, because she just dropped the sentence mid-way.
"About what?" I asked Hermione.
Hermione looked up at me and asked, "Arabella, are you invovled with the Death Eaters at all in any way?"
"Of course not!" I say. "I could never work with those scumbags!"
"Then why was the Death Eater saying that Voldemort was 'summoning you'?" she asked, almost in a defensive way.
I stared at her in shock. Why would Voldemort want to talk to me? In fact, why didn't he just come here himself?
"Also, he dropped this," Hermione said, holding up a necklace.
I looked up and all the color drained from my face. No.....
"Arabella," Hermione asked concered. "What's wrong?"
I grabbed the necklace and looked at it closer, examining the clay beads. It was obviously from Camp Half Blood, but if it belonged to who I thought it belonged to-
My worst fears were comfired when I found a bead that was only given to one single person.
"Luke," I whispered. I looked at Hermione and said, "I'm sorry, but I've got to go."
