Keefe
❤️❤️❤️This chapter begins before Sophie heals in Chapter 17 btw. Sorry for the funky timeline.❤️❤️❤️
The horse-dude brought them to the 'Big House'. Probably because it was big. And a house. He didn't really care. He just wanted to help Sophie and bring her back.
Annabeth caught Keefe up to speed on their way. Apparently, these people called gods were immortal and had special powers and had kids and those kids were called demigods and they were at a camp where all the demipeople lived. And now this big-bad-titan dude was going to war with them in a few days.
"Sooooo, basically, I'm a god?" Keefe asked, grinning despite himself.
Annabeth rolled her eyes and kept explaining. Tough crowd. "Sophie got here a few days ago. She decided to stay when she heard about what was happening with Kronos. She wants to stay and help."
"Yeah, see, war isn't exactly an elf thing." Keefe told her.
"Sophie has actually done really well in training. She won capture the flag today, so she can keep her head in battle. Well... Other than what happened after that."
Keefe felt a surge of pride. He knew Foster was amazing, and could do so much more when she put her mind to it. At the same time, he wondered what would have been bad enough to cause a reaction like this.
"I've told all the campers to stay in their cabins." Chiron said as they entered what he assumed was the Big House. Compared to Elvin houses, they should have called it the Small House. "Take Sophie up to one of the guest rooms." He handed Sophie back to Keefe, and Annabeth led him up a flight of stairs, down a hallway, and into a room.
"Put her on the bed." Annabeth pointed. "I'll get some stuff that might help." She left the room, and Keefe set Sophie gently down. She had stopped shaking, but her forehead was sweaty, And her eyes were still open, staring at nothing.
While Annabeth was gone, Keefe took out his imparter, which he thankfully grabbed before he left, and sent a hasty message to Mr.Forkle.
I need help. I'm at Camp Half-Blood.
If anyone could help, Forkle could.
While Annabeth was gone, Keefe racked his brain for a command to use that would help. But of course, his stupid broken ability wasn't cooperating when he actually needed it. The rush from Sophie's enhancing was enough to fix his empathy while he was holding her hand.
Annabeth came back, carrying several containers and packages of items. Chiron rolled into the room, apparently in a chair with wheels, which made him wonder how he got up the stairs. He stopped Annabeth from opening a plastic bag with food in it.
"No ambrosia. Or nectar. She is not a demigod."
Annabeth bit her lip. "What about your nature magic?"
Chiron wheeled towards the bed, and rested a hand on Sophie's forehead. He closed his eyes, whispered a few words too quietly for Keefe to hear, then sighed and brought his hand back. "Her mind is too fragile. I don't want to risk interfering with what her mind is going through."
A familiar voice said from the doorway, "Perhaps I may be of assistance."
