Nicholas wasn't in the room when I woke up the following morning. My head was pounding and my mouth tasted like bile. I couldn't recall what happened that night. Only that I kissed a few guys and then yelled at Nicholas. I couldn't remember what I drank or anything that happened in-between.
My phone kept ringing on my nightstand and I tried to ignore it, even covering my ears with my pillow. My dumbass drunken self was too hungover to acknowledge that I could just turn the volume off. I gave up trying to ignore it around the fifth time and picked it up, seeing that it was Imogen wanting to video chat.
Answering, I held the phone up in the air, positive that at least once during that call I would drop the phone on my face. She looked to be lying on a towel at the beach and drinking a smoothie.
"Hey, boo," she greeted me. "Are you just getting up?"
I groaned as I tried to sit up in the bed. My head felt like my brain was moving. "Yeah, I'm sick," I lied. I knew she wouldn't sympathize with me if I told her I was hungover.
"You were drinking, weren't you?" Shit, there went that lie out the window. "You look like shit, Seth."
All I wanted was to go back to sleep and also take something for the massive headache I was suffering. "Nicholas and I went to a party last night. I think I drank a little too much."
"I can see that," she said before her face lit up with joy. "I'll be back home in a couple weeks. Do you think everyone will be okay with me coming by for a weekend?"
That made me almost forget about my headache and had me smiling for the first time since the party. ""Yes, Immy! You need to get here ASAP! I miss you."
"I miss you too, hon."
The headache was only getting worse. "I'll ask them if it's okay. I'm sure it will be. I swear, it's like a conservative waste pool here."
"Will you survive until I get there?" she joked.
"I'll have to try."
"Have you met any cute boys yet?" she asked with a wink.
I felt my cheeks get hot. "I kissed a few guys last night, but for the life of me I don't remember what they looked like."
She nodded and then smirked. "Was one of them Nicholas?"
She never met Nicholas, but she did see pictures when we stalked him on social media. She had a feeling that I had a little bit of a thing for him, which I tried to deny, but ultimately failed. "No," I told her.
She pouted. "Maybe next time."
"Seth!" My mom's voice cut through the air, coming from the hallway. The sudden loudness of her voice sent a pounding feeling to my head. "You can't sleep all day!"
"Aww, your mommy wants you?" Imogen teased. Truthfully, I expected my mom to wake me up earlier. It was already late morning.
"Bye, Imogen," I said with a roll of my eyes. "I love you."
"I love you too, boo."
It wasn't even a second after I hung up with Imogen that my mom let herself into the bed room. "Sure, let yourself in," I said, sarcastically as I rubbed my temple, trying to ease the growing headache. "I could've been naked." In retrospect, I was semi-naked. Only wearing my boxers. Hell, I could've been jacking off.
"It's not as if I haven't seen you naked before."
"I was a baby!" Rubbing my eyes, I laid my head back down onto the pillow. I wanted to go back to sleep. "I just got off the phone with Imogen," I told her.
