When the day of my interview at the yacht club arrived, I was a nervous wreck. I had never had an interview before and had no idea what to expect. The night before, Nick laid me out some nice clothes to wear that would make a great impression. He then said that he would drive me to my interview since it was around the same time that his shift started.
As I got dressed, Nick ran through what I would be expecting when I was at the interview. Which didn't calm my nerves even in the slightest. That was until he told me that I could hang out by the pool while he lifeguarded until his shift was over. I've seen him in his little lifeguard getup. He looked hot.
Nick gave me a kiss for good luck before we got out of the car and went into the yacht club. He walked me to the office where the interview would be held. "Do you need anything before I leave?" he asked me.
"I think I'll be okay," I answered and took a seat in one of the waiting room chairs.
"Okay, meet me at the pool when you're done." He gave me a wave before leaving to get to the pool.
Not long after Nick left, a man dressed like the typical country club white man walked out of an office, immediately taking notice of me. "Seth Fox?"
I stood up and walked over to him, accepting his outstretched hand. "Hey, nice to meet you."
He shook my hand with the cheesiest smile I had ever seen. "You as well. Nick has told me amazing things about you."
Now I needed to know exactly what he said. I'd egg him on about it later. "I'll have to thank him later."
He moved to the side and motioned a hand into his office. "Come on in and take a seat." I did as told and took one of the cushioned seats in front of his desk. He went around the desk and sat down. I noticed that he had some papers sprawled out in front of him that had my full name on them. Even my birth certificate. How the fuck did Nick get my birth certificate? He must've asked my mom for a copy. "How do you know Nick?"
"We're friends." Friends that sleep together, kiss a lot, and really like each other. "Our moms are good friends, so we grew up together."
"That's nice." He had the same smile as a flight attendant. Or he was genuinely happy to be speaking with me. "Nick also said you're a hard worker."
Don't make a sex joke, Seth. "I'm determined," I told him. "I don't let the odds get in the way of completing what I had started."
"You seem like a strong kid. I assume you have the balance and strength to carry trays smoothly."
"Yes, sir," I confirmed. I was always able to carry my own. Physically mostly. Mentally? Not so much. My hopefully soon-to-be manager did not need to know that.
"The goal of this job is to serve and enhance the members club experience," he explained. "You will have one week of paid training, then we will make the decision to keep you or let you go. Got it?"
I nodded my head. "Absolutely. I won't let you down."
With a grin, he stood up and extended a hand out to me. I took it and he gave it a firm shake. "Welcome to the team, Seth. I hope you intend to not let me down."
"Not at all, sir," I replied.
I followed him towards his office door, and he held it open as I took a step out. "Feel free to grab something to eat or drink before you leave." He walked back towards his desk only to come back a second later with a laminated card. "This is the new employee free meal and drink card. Make sure you display it to the staff before ordering. They'll swipe the card into the system and you'll be all set."
