And we were back. At last. Susannah's beach house is right down the road. the smell of salty air tickles my nose and makes me smile. the sun shines on my rosy cheeks as I stick my head out the window to get a better look at the house. We roll into the drive way and an overly excited Susannah stumbles up to mom's door and swings it open, immediately embracing her. I hurriedly crawl out of the car and get attacked by Jeremiah. He sprints into my arms and lifts me up, spinning me in a circle just a foot off the ground."Jere!! Let me down" I giggle and fake punch his back. As he sets me down I see someone walking out of the house behind Jeremiah. The boy's face lights up and runs at me.
Conrad. A couple loose hairs bounced with his steps. His smile grew as he came closer. I held my breath out of excitement and let it go the second he hugged me, it's real. I'm finally back. A whole year I have waited for this moment. Missing, longing to see these boys... in this house. Last summer was perfect but this summer will be the best. Conrad looks especially excited to see me, what a sweet dork.
"Y/N! You're here a week early!" Conrad exclaims.
"CONNIE!" I squeakily scream. He runs into me so hard we fall to the ground. The position is awkward and you both just stay still smiling at each other for a moment. He looks just as perfect as last summer, maybe even better. His eyes still sparkle but right now... in this moment. he is glowing, his whole face is as bright as a star, making me blush harder. Before my stupid brother gave Jeremiah a look that meant business and Jeremiah football tackled Conrad off of me. Conrad ends up picking Jeremiah up and swinging him over his shoulder.
"you lose .. again." Conrad chuckles, letting Jeremiah down once Jere starts whining about the loss.
"Yeah whatever football boy."
"You'll beat me one day, trust."
"Sure, sure. but for now you will continue to kick my ass." Jere punches Conrad in the shoulder and starts to help us carry our bags inside.
It's only been the first day and I have already realized my feelings for Conrad are still present. But the way Jeremiah looked at me hasn't changed, i hope that it isn't what I suspect.
3 days later...
"y/n, it's time." mom calls from downstairs.
I'm still sleepy but waking up is the only choice right now. Me and my mom had planned this, we came a week early for our trip. Today was the day the boys were supposed to leave. Jeremiah and Steven had a mom and son senior trip planned for months now. Conrad has been in college for a few years now so he didn't want to go on Susannah's little trip all over again. And I wasn't one of the boys nor was I a senior yet. So I stayed home too. Susannah gave me a planning booklet and left a LOT of money, just incase we need any more food or want to do something fun. But i highly doubted we would need any more food since Susannah frantic buys food like the end of the world is upon us all. Susannah has had a tough time lately, the chemo has started again so her hair loss is slow but it's already begun... so me and Conrad didn't try to ruin the boys trip.
-all packed and ready to go now-
"i guess it's time to go. You two better not get into any trouble, no parties. we're only gone for a month... don't make us shorten it. Love you guys." Mom yells out the window pointing her finger at me.
Conrad smiles sweetly at his mom through her window and waves. I childishly chase the car down the driveway and wave.
"BYEEE!" I yell. I feel so sad that i won't see Susannah or the boys much but at least Conrad will still be here.
The car turns out of the driveway and picks up speed down the road until it was gone. I sadly walk back up to the house and Conrad holds the door for me.
" So,
What should we do now that we're alone. "
