I get off the bus and walk inside the school and Alex is behind me I turn to the office with everyone else to find my schedule and I found it after a few minutes and looked at my classes, History, then Band, then English, then Art, then Spanish, then science, and lastly math. "Ugh great." I say sarcastically and sigh "what?" I turn around to see who is talking and it's Alex "I have History at 7:30 in the morning!" Alex laughs and says "haha have fun with that" He looks over at me and smiles "whatever, what do you have first? Let's compare schedules!" I put my paper next to his and look at his "You have Gym first? Well that's definitely a way to wake up" I laugh a little bit "yes it sure is but it could be worse, hey your in band?" He looks at me surprised "yeah i was also in choir" he nods in approval "that seems about right actually. You definitely seem like you would be in choir" I look at him and hit him in a playful manner "hey what's that supposed to mean!?" He smiles "you just don't look like a typical band kid! What do you play?" "I play the horn and-" *𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨* I sigh and glare at him "saved by the bell mister!" He smiles and we walk to our classes. I get to history and sit in the back and wait for the bell to ring, I feel my phone buzz in my pocket so I take it out and put it under my leg and check the notification to see it's from Mary. "Sorry I was in class love you toooo!!!" I open the message and heart it then close my phone and put in my pocket. I look around the class to see who's here and it's mostly popular kids. "Ugh that's just great" I mumbled to myself and look out the window. I wonder how this year is going to go? Where will I be after this? Where will me and my friends be? How close will me and Alex be? Talking about Alex, I can't seem to get him off my mind... but why? Alex is just one of the new kids I met today. He's sweet and funny and he has the prettiest eyes and h- wait what? No... do I like A- *𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨* "welcome to History I'm Mr Peterson and we will be meeting our groups for this upcoming project" what a project already? It's the first day! Ugh that means I have to talk to the other students... "everyone introduce themselves starting with...." He looks around thinking about who to start with. Please not me I keep repeating in my head. "Let's start with this lady in the front!" Yes phew thank you! Wait, oh great she's in this class? She stands up and turns around "hello! I'm Isabelle but you all can call me Isa! I hope we can all be friends, well not all of you..." is she staring at me? She is! She smirks at me and I roll my eyes and look out the window and I start to think again about my thoughts before class until "uhh y/n is that right?" I snap back into reality and look back at the teacher to see everyone staring at me I hear a few laughs, God that's embarrassing... I stand up " sorry...  uhm I'm y/n" Mr Peterson smiles and nods "thank you for the introduction y/n." I sit down in disbelief. I can't believe I just embarrassed myself! It's only the first day and I made myself look like a fool... *time skip* "Anyways class we have about 5 minutes left of class so start grabbing your things thank you all of coming to you I think this is going to be a good year!" I bet you say that every year to every class. Anyways now I have... let me check. "Yes band!" I mumbled "hey you also have band? Uhm I'm new here do you happen to know where it is?" I turn around to see a tall guy towering over me. He has glasses and dark brown eyes along with dark hair. "Uhm yeah just follow me it's not far." He smiles and starts to follow me down the hall "thanks I'm Ezra, Ezra Smith your Y/n right?" Smith? Smith... that's familiar. "Yeah Y/n Y/l/n. Also question, do you have any siblings? The name Smith seems familiar." He chuckles "yeah I have a sister. Sarah Smith She seems to be popular I guess haha." I laugh in disbelief "Sarah Smith is your sister? God, I miss her I used to be friends with her." Sarah Smith used to be a really good friend of mine at school but never would really let me in her personal life so I don't think we were that close. "Why did she switch schools?" He sighs "you were friends with her so you knew she was lesbian right?" Oh my god how could I forget! After people found out I haven't seen her. "Oh yeah I forgot about that!" He sighs again "well she started getting threats and comments because of it so she's getting homeschooled now." Wow. That's bad. "Jeez, I'm sorry. I feel bad" I never really went through that coming out as non-binary, nobody really cared which also meant nobody changed anything so I get misgendered a lot. "It's fine I just hope she comes back. Is this the band room?" I look to the left and see the door. "Yep it sure is." He smiles "thanks y/n" I look up at him and smile "anytime Ezra" and we walk into class. *time skip* *𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨* ah yes finally lunch! I'm so hungry. I get up and walk with Ezra to the lunch room and see Isabella "aww we're you daydreaming about him in history?" I roll my eyes and Ezra laughs "Uhm excuse me Isabella I'm only into guys" Whaat?! Isabella looks just as shocked as I feel and she can't seem to find anything to say so Ezra leans down and says "yeah I'm gay get used to it sweetie. Come on Y/n" Woah I can't believe he just did that! I follow him to a table in front of the window and sit across from him. "I can't believe you did that!" He smiles "yeah sometimes you just have to let them know like that" wow I guess he's not wrong so I nod in agreement and look out the window at the little pond in the garden outside. I can't wait till the ducks show up because some students get picked to take care of them. I doubt I'll get picked but one can hope right? I stand up to go get my lunch and then sit back down and see Alex walk over to me and sit next to me "Hey sorry I couldn't find you for a minute." I look over at him and smile "it's okay also Alex, this is Ezra I met him in history" Alex looks over at Ezra and slightly smiles "Hello are you also new here?" Ezra smiles "yeah where are you from?" "California, you?"
"Right here in Kansas." Alex nods in approval "it's not too bad here" Ezra chuckles "sure isn't" *time skip* finally school is over. Today wasn't too bad, I made 2 friends!
