it was currently night time. donghyuck was driving himself to his vacation house. since it was about to be the last day of school and the start of summer, donghyuck's father had allowed him to use the home whenever he wanted.

donghyuck didn't hesitate to accept the offer. now, he was on his way to the vacation home to clean it up a bit and add food in the fridge. it had been quite a while since the brunette had stepped foot into that place.

his car came to a stop when he parked in the small driveway. stepping out of the car, he scanned the house. it was absolutely beautiful.

the home was made from wood. since donghyuck's mother was an architectural engineer, she helped design and build the house.

every year the poor house went to waste since it was never used but now that donghyuck had grown old enough to live by himself, sorta, he was given the responsibility of taking care of it for the summer.

smiling at the thought of his parents trusting him this much, the tan male locked his car and made his way inside.

right by the door, there was a light switch, donghyuck didn't hesitate to flick the switch up. thanks to that, all the lights in that room turned on, giving donghyuck a better view of his temporary home.

excitement rushing through his veins, donghyuck continued touring the house. he counted all the rooms and concluded that there was enough for everyone.

main bedroom: for mark and him of course.

second bedroom: for renjun, jaemin and jeno.

third bedroom: for jisung and chenle.

there was another bedroom but it wasn't needed.

walking back to the main bedroom, he dropped his suitcase and jumped on the large bed. if anyone was around, they would see how silly he looked, laying on the bed in a starfish position.

he soon flipped over with a sigh. "i should've brought mark with me." he pouted at that. maybe they could've even had a bit of fun while they had the house alone.

the brunette found himself blushing at such thoughts. immediately, he shook his head to get rid of all of those type of thoughts.

sitting up, he glanced over at the closet. his eyebrows furrowed when he noticed it was slightly opened.

the last time they had came here his parents made sure ALL doors were closed. not only did they not want anyone to rob them but his father had a dislike of having doors open.

since this was their room every holiday, donghyuck knew his dad would've made sure it was closed before he left.

jumping off the bed, he grabbed a bat his father had placed next to the nightstand—just incase—and walked towards the closet.

the brunette's heart was beating fast. he was very very scared. was someone in there? not just that but he was all alone. his only sort of protection was this dumb bat.

he really should've brought mark with him. the older would be ready to protect donghyuck with everything he had.

pulling out his phone, donghyuck turned on the flashlight and pointed it at the closet. the bat was positioned by his face, ready to swing. almost as if he was playing baseball.

taking in a deep breath, in quick movement, he slid the closet door to the left. it made a huge noise which made donghyuck jump a bit.

he immediately straightened up and peaked inside the closet. instead of meeting with a face of an intruder like he thought, it was empty. no one was there. weird..

maybe his mom had accidentally left it open and they all left before his father could notice it. though donghyuck didn't care. he was just thankful no one was in there to attack him.

he placed the bat back to where it was earlier and only then laughed at himself. no way he thought someone was in there. he even almost called mark out of horror.

he totally would've scared the older for no reason.

right when donghyuck was about to lay back down, he remembered why he was there. widening his eyes, he ran to the first floor and picked up the groceries and snacks he had bought.

with his hands full, he quickly found his way to the kitchen. donghyuck opened the fridge and was about to place the cold items in there but stopped when he noticed something.

there was a sort if liquid dripping down. it was only a bit but that was weird. donghyuck brushed his fingers and almost jumped when he felt how wet it was.

it was recent.

if the liquid had been there for a while, it would've been sticky or even stuck to the fridge but no. it was wet and dripping.

donghyuck shut his eyes tightly and took a deep breath. he couldn't help but think of scary thoughts.

the tan male calmed himself down by telling himself that maybe his parents were here the other day. they were gone for quite a while so it would explain it.

he settled on that idea. not knowing if he believed it to get rid of the scary thoughts or did actually think that it was his parents.

walking over to a bag, donghyuck pulled out some paper and wiped the mysterious red liquid. watching the paper absorbing the mess, donghyuck tried to inspect what it was but couldn't really tell.

it could either be juice, sauce or.. blood.

but he didn't even want to think that last option was a possibility so he chose to believe it was sauce and that's why his parents came home with spaghetti yesterday.

oh right, they did. they probably cooked here last night.

right?
